Wrong. Rich people tend to attract friends that like them because of what they are or what they've got, rather than who they actually are. As for cars - I'm not that fussed, $1k hookers - again, not that fussed. I'm alright for a few quid because I've got a good job and look after my brass.... but I don't see the point of throwing it around because people just think you're a twat when you do that. Simples. It's not double standards - I've never said that Mosley was unacceptable for Floyd, in fact I was pleasantly surprised that the fight was made. Given the fact that Marquez was tied up with GBP and there was some other stuff going on with the 140lbs ''tourney'' Shane was probably as good a guy as they could have got for Pacquiao, if not ideal. As for Ortiz, it's only recently that he's actually done anything, after being badly shown up by Maidana and to a lesser extent Peterson. If Pacquiao had signed to fight Ortiz you'd have been all over him like a rash no doubt. As for Marquez, Pacquiao can easily make 140lbs - and it would be a fight that would pose significant problems for him..... in my opinion.
I know that Pac can easily make 140, but there is no way that the fight gets made at 140. Pac's team would call the shots and have the fight at 147, with neither fighter weighing in on the limit.
I agree just because the limit is 147 doesn't mean you have to come in at it, Marquez should come in at what weight he feels most comfortable, because whatever the weight he isn't going to be able to knock out manny out so needs to use movement and counter mannys onslaughts so doesn't want to be weighing what he did against mayweather
Probably so, the weight is a moot point. Pacquiao will be in the high 140's, Marquez toward the lower end once they get in the ring. He was 5lbs heavier last time if I recall.
in mayweather opinion he has proved himself. the only fighter you can accuse him of ducking is Pacquiao. and he has made it clear why that fights not happend and never once changed his stance unlike Pacquiao. Lets not forget in the origional proposal Drug Testing was agreed to.
the weight is not a moot point. what did Mayweather weigh in the ring and what did Marquez when they faced one another??
Why are people still giving the guy attention? If the fight is signed, fine, i'll watch. And then hope Ortiz knocks him the **** out! But until then he can **** off. People slag him off for not fighting Pac, but when he mutters his crap people still talk about it. I'm a massive fan of Mayweather, i think his boxing skills are second to none in the sport and would pick him to beat anyone on the planet. But the guy simply isnt relivent any more
It is a moot point in this instance. Mayweather vs Marquez was made at a 144lb catchweight which Floyd couldn't/didn't meet and paid compo to Marquez, who was clearly a bit tubby at 142lbs. I'm not sure what either weighed in the ring, I'd guess Floyd was in the mid-150's and Marquez mid/high 140's. Pacquiao has been weighing in around the 144lbs mark for his last few fights, and getting in the ring only slightly heavier. Marquez was under 135 for his last two but in the low/mid 140's for them on the night. If my head was on a block, I'd say Pacquiao would weigh in slightly lighter for Marquez, around 142lbs..... in the ring around 146/147. Marquez would basically get down to lightweight barring a last minute dump.... 137ish, in the ring around 142 - because physically Pacquiao won't try and throw him around like Katsidis and Diaz both did. If Pacquiao wants to beef up to 147lbs and get in the ring in the 150's that's his choice, but it won't help him in the grand scheme of things against Marquez, because it's his speed that causes Marquez problems. If he's a more stationary target he'll only get hit more, after all.
He's 1 half of the biggest fight that could happen in the sport today so he is relevent. Mate he can be annoying as **** but thats the way it is, if he werent so good/relevent in our sport there wouldnt be so much talk about him (positive or negative)
I dont buy it to be honest. Is he retired, or is he resting? Does he want to fight the best, or do he not have the urge? These are fundermental questions boxing fans need answered. At least Audley ****ing Harrison had the decency to tell his three fans he would carry on boxing after the Haye loss. I understand he has legal troubles, but all we need is a statement in which he says he plans to carry on boxing after the legal ranglings are solved. When a fight with anyone is signed, then he becomes relevent. But he has been a bit part player for the last 4-5 years, retiring 3 times in h process. I agree with the Ring's and Boxrec's standpoint. Drop him from all rankings, then if a fight is signed, albeit with Pac, Ortiz, or ANYONE, start talking about him and ranking him again.
Like all the mingers on Jeremy Kyle DNA test shows, I aint checked the dates mate but when hes inactive for 12 months he is out of the rankings simple as. Point is just coz he's not fighting often enough, you've labelled some reasons for that he doesnt become irrelevent. And as I and others of stated previously, this is the mind of Floyd Mayweather not regular decent people!- he dont feel he owes fans/critics/anybody explanations. Its arrogant, its selfish, its egotistical, its Floyd Money Mayweather. Man's a bell-end but he's gifted and people cant stop chatting about him 1 way or another
This for me is spot on. Personally, i think all boxers shout threat their fans with an ounce of respect, even if its onl letting them know if they still intend to fight on. But like you said, he doesnt feel he owes the fans, as well as the sport, ****. Shame really, as the guy is one of the best pue boxers ever IMO
Is this story actually true then? And let's remember Arum is planning Cotto/Margarito II for the 17th of September
As I said yesterday, 'lineage' is assumed anyways. And claiming the lineage from Baldomir....well, not that impressive, Baldomir is arguably the worst Welterweight 'champion' of all time. I agree that Pac is wasting his time fighting Shane. I also agree that beating Ortiz will do little to enhance Floyds legacy....especially because he'll then take another 18 month hiatus immediately after.
