I'm a Mayweather fan and i've highlighted he onbly fights for money and doesnt take his fans into consideration I dont feel like im treated like a mug I know the score. I aint ditching the wedding savings to fly to Dallas/Vegas or Nevada Courtroom to see Floyds next fight. He aint entertaining like a Cotto, Gamboa, Donaire, JMM, Marravilla or some other fighters I like but I can appreciate the guy's ability in the fights he's been in without solely focussing on the fights he hasnt. I can also see that its (quote Buncey) "Cash Common Sense" as to why he picks his fights.

Hey I'm with you about Cotto-Margarito 2 that fights got history, revenge, a different type of fighter in Cotto its a cracking fight. Could even say I'm more looking forward to Froch-Johnson+probably Ward aswell as Hopkins-Pascal than a potential Mayweather-Ortiz fight which will be more of an EVENT double thumb :good:good:D Strange about the date though, that'll surely change

Its not strange. Its all part of the Top Rank vs Goldboy battle.

Cotto vs Margo 2 was origonally planned as a HBO PPV in July. HBO told Arum no as they owed Goldenboy a PPV card in July. So he goes to Showtime who agree to it in September. He knows GBP are planning a PPV with Alvarez Sep 17th so he put Cotto vs Marg on that date. GBP retaliate by putting mayweather the no.1 ppv draw in the US on that date which will force showtime and top rank to move there card.

Just saying, the term "coming off" relates to their previous fight.

Rob, I do agree that this is a poor fight for Pac/Roach/Top Rank to have made.

But it's the first genuinely uninspiring fight for a long time (David Diaz was poor in hindsight only, at the time it was seen as a decent fight) for Pac. And IMO, no less relevant than Floyd-JMM.

If this fight gets made it will make interesting viewing Ortiz could well make Floyd pay for his inactivity in the ring, Ortiz has power in both hands to trouble or KO Floyd and has decent handspeed too.

Ortiz at 147 seems a different fighter, he is a big 147 fighter **** knows how he was making 140.

Ortiz will win the first few rounds on activity, but Floyd will make him look a right ****. I reckon he will stop him in the championship rounds myself.

People are forgetting that Ortiz looked real good, because Berto really isn't that good. And to those who call me an after timer, read my f'n posts from the past few years, like a few others, I recognised Bertos technical shortcomings, as well as his punch resistance being wobbly.

Ortiz walked over him because Berto isn't that tough. He outboxed him because Berto is not that good a boxer. He managed to survive the rough moments because Berto is very predictable offensively.

Floyd is pretty much none of those things. Whilst offence and power isn't his forte, speed, timing and accuracy is, and once he figures Ortiz out (those acting that 'just because he's a southpaw' really don't understand boxing, Ortiz barely uses his advantages and stands straight on) which, like most of Floyds opponents, will take him two or three rounds, it's one way traffic.

Once Ortiz, not a one punch K.O artist, realises he needs a screamer to win, he'll unravel just as he did before IMO.

Way to focus on 1 throw away sentence out of a whole post :good

Anyway you do make a good point and it shows that T.V still runs to Floyd Mayweahter's tune, why he expects opponents to aswell maybe?

According to HBO his in ring weight was 148lb for DLH but Oscar refused to get on the scales, before that his in ring weight was 149lb against Baldomir and 146lb against Judah, there's no record of his weight vs Hatton but I think it's fair to say he wouldn't have been any bigger since he was coming down a weight division for this fight.

Mayweather was a small welterweight before he retired, I don't think anyone would dispute that.

So he comes back and fights Marquez who we have no idea how he will handle fighting at a higher weight, everyone is already down on the fight because they see him as being too small and use Marquez getting completely schooled and made to look like an amature to back up their belief.

Fast forward 2 years and we've got another small welterweight that is far more active than Mayweather, yet Marquez is now an acceptable opponent for this small welterweight despite looking like **** in his one and only fight above lightweight and being 2 years older at 38.

Now how is that not double standards?
