stylewise a terrible fight for Ortiz. The only thing he has in his favor is the southpaw, but Cotto has experience with one of the best Southpaws in history in Pacman. Cotto KO 5 Ortiz.
Cotto KO. Ortiz folds when they go to his body and the southpaw stance makes it easier for Cotto to get there. I expect Cotto to visit the floor once and then get up and make Ortiz fold.
Here we are comparing resumes again. You two can talk about being pushed to the limit all day.. What you are referring to is Cotto getting his ass kicked by Margarito and Pacman, which left him a bloody mess, and Ortiz earning decisions over Campbell and Peterson. So he fought Margarito and Pacman.. The ref had to rescue him before he bled to death! Cotto cannot fight going backwards, let alone when it's the 6th or 7th round and he has to prolong a knockout loss. Ortiz has the better defense, and it will be the difference. Getting bloodied, knocked down, TKO'd, and outlanded in every round is a helluva experience.
cotto has been making a punching bag out of margarito on that fight for the first 5 to 6 rounds. it's juts because of the relentlessness and a possible brick in his fist that made cotto succumb. also, if that was another fighter and not margarito, he would have been stopped already with the amount of punishment he has received. ortiz possibly could have improved his chin at welter but thoses shots margarito took from cotto would have reminded ortiz of the maidana fight once more.
Ortiz and Margarito fight nothing a like. Margarito eats three power shots to land one thumping shot. Ortiz would have too much fire power, be much quicker than Tony to even compare the two. One can easily say, Ortiz would land more on the undefensive Cotto than Cotto opn the young quick Ortiz.
Agreed, Cotto being wrecked and psychologically beaten twice will do wonders for him against a strong, fast, explosive fighter like Ortiz.
you can't easily say that. cotto throws some serious straight jabs and is one of the best in the business. ortiz comes too wide and too reckless. cotto would have a field day jabbing him and working on ortiz' body.
Cotto would outbox him. Probably stop him with a hook to the body in the late rounds, but it should be a good brawl. Fan friendly. I say Cotto by TKO 11.
Cotto's defense is much better than people on ESB would have you believe. It isn't great; but it isn't horrible. Though, to be fair, it is true that he is a sucker for the uppercut. That being said, Ortiz does NOT have better defense than Cotto. Cotto has a much better, non static, guard. Cotto has head movement. Cotto can parry. Ortiz is just there to be hit.
MIguel knocks him in 6...He'd punish him more than Marcos did.. I like miguel by ko..I could see him EFFECTIVELY MOVING FORWARD BEHIND CLEAN JABS AND POWER PUNCHES. COTTO KNOCKS HIM OUT IN 6...KO/TKO
