He may beat Cotto and Shane on work-rate.

    @ 147

The Current Ortiz beats, Cotto in a good fight, Definitely shane with ease, and @ 147 Ortiz owns the Brickless weight drained Manster.

CLottey was paid off to retire... so he'll never fight again...

    PRIME FOR PRIME

    VS...

Cotto (from Quintana, Judah, Mosley) - Dangerous fight for Cotto, could be back and forth battle ala Cotto/Torres, I think that Cotto would have a little too many moves at his best for Ortiz so far. Ortiz has a lot of improving to do, and I think his rawness and limitations might hurt him here. But, if he comes guns blazing, he could def wind up bullying Cotto a bit in the middle rounds. Very interesting fight, and I think a competetive one, Cotto will win more rounds, but I think Ortiz puts him down a few times, which would make it close on the cards.
    Cotto SD

Mayorga (from Forrest 1, Forrest 2, Spinks) - Mayorga bombs Ortiz out in 8 imo.... would look like Ortiz vs Maidana except he doesnt knock Mayorga down. I just think Mayorga is a bad matchup.... Ortiz will try to fight fire with fire and come out the loser in this one.
    Mayorga TKO

Clottey - Ill take Ortiz by UD in this. I think his fire and activity will keep him winning rounds against Clottey. Clottey will have his moments, and probably would be one of the few guys who doesnt hit the canvas against Ortiz.... but at the end of the night, I think it will be too little from Clottey, and Ortiz gets the decision based off of aggressiveness, landing the harder shots, and activity.
    Ortiz by UD

Mosley - A good shootout, but gotta go with Mosley.... probably by stoppage. Ortiz is not the hardest guy to nail and when you bang it out with a prime welterweight mosley, and dont have an iron chin (and even when you do sometimes) youre gonna have a tough time seeing the 12th round. I just dont see anything Ortiz brings other then some size that will really bother a younger Mosley at welter.
    Mosley by late TKO

    If we are talking NOW

    vs Shane
I think Ortiz does a nice combo of circling, circling, and then walking shane down from time to time, landing harder shots, outworking him in the middle and late rounds, survives any scary moments and wins a UD.

    vs Clottey
    Same as prime vs prime

    vs Mayorga
If mayorga could even make it to welter these days, Id take Ortiz to stop him late. Mayorga is a fraction of what he once was, with a lesser chin and even worse defence. He would be competetive for the first couple rounds until his age shows up and Ortiz starts tagging him at will.

    vs Cotto
I honestly think Ortiz would stop Cotto late at this point. I suppose if Ortiz comes in passive like he can be from time to time, it would be competetive, but if he comes in with the fire, I think he grinds Cotto down and stops him late or gets Cotto on his bike, and then wins a UD. It would be competetive, but imo, Cotto has simply declined, gotten a bit more sloppy, slower, more stiff, and I dont think wants to be in the kind of dog fight he would wind up in with Ortiz.
