Since i see a thread of who wins between Ortiz vs Margarito at 151 pounds, this match makes more since Pacquiao is going to fight Marquez at 144 pound catchweight while Ortiz fights Mayweather. I think Ortiz would ko Marquez in between the 7th or 8th round.

I could see Ortiz hurting Marquez or even Marquez counter punching him to get a close UD

Ortiz. He will come in at 146 and just pay JMM 600,000 dollars.

JMM will always be happy receiving freebies. He is fighting Ramos for peanuts.

Marquez by decision. What are you guys smoking? I see you all get into the hype easily. Beating overrated Berto made Ortiz invincible now?

if marquez doesn't get overwhelmed by ortiz's power and strength he'd school him. big 'if' but he seemed to handle mayweather's power alright, it was the combination of incredible skill to go with the size which he struggled with. see how he goes with pac, and then decide

Marquez wins a UD. Ortiz isn't bad by any means, and his last fight made me a big fan of him, BUT he's not in these guys league. He's strong, hits hard, but Marquez, KHAN (yeah I said Khan), Bradley, Pac, and Mayweather all beat this guy.
If he'd have the same determination as the Berto fight I might give him a chance against Khan and Bradley, but I doubt it...

dude your a hater!!! Ortiz is very good. preety good speed, massive power, and showed some heart his last fight. and hes a big WW believe or not. Berto was never overrated, just not test alot. Marquez is an old man, and I know for damn sure hes got more power and skill then Katsidis and thats was at 135, not 144 DUDE!! no calling him invincble but hes got a shot against Marquez

I think JMM is past his prime, and I don't think we've seen the "best" of Victor Ortiz. I think early JMM would **** Ortiz up, but as the fight went on I think Ortiz could/would hurt him and end up winning the decision. I could see it being a lot like the first Juan Diaz fight, only Ortiz is closer to prime, and is faster than Diaz.

berto doesn't even have a decent jab, he has one big punch and he couldn't even connect with a combination. berto has no boxing skills, he has fooled all of you by playing the flashy african american slickster just like alexander. in case you forgot, this same berto got a gift with collazo. this is why i don't rate ortiz so highly with his victory over berto.

But props to floyd for coming out of vacation and fighting a southpaw in preparation for a pac fight. But if after this floyd goes into his vacation again... **** him, he should have his license revoked and should not be allowed to dupe us boxing fans again.

to answer the question though, i think marquez wins by KO. early rounds would go to ortiz, he would impose his size and power and possibly put Marquez on his ass once or twice. But nobody knocks out Marquez. if there is any boxer who could top the list for recuperating ability, that should be marquez.

Vic would apply relentless pressure on Marquez but once marquez recuperates and gets into his rythm, Ortiz would eat hellacious uppercuts and vicious head and body combinations from marquez.

Ortiz would be taken to deep waters and drown. If ortiz does not quit just like in the maidana fight, then he would go down fighting and get KOd.

i think marquez can pull it off and even do it via KO, Ortiz as big and strong as he is will be eating counters all night.
