I'm suprised nobody has been talked about this fight at all. This is an interesting matchup. I know these guys lost to Maidana and Bradley. They still have a lot of growth to go through though. I don't know who I got on this one though. Peterson is going to have to show more then he did vs Bradley.
I'm excited for all the fights this weekend. This one might steal the show IMO... I like Ortiz by stoppage. Peterson got tagged repeatedly by Bradley's right, and was down in the 3rd or 4th??? And we all know Bradley is not a big puncher. I also noticed Peterson likes to jab to the body, and when he does sometimes he gets lazy and leans forward. This will put him in a very dangerous position to get countered by Ortiz's best punch which is the short right hook.. But Peterson is the faster of the two and has better reflexes, but he doesn't fight smart.
It's the least exciting of the four Saturday night fights, but it's a compelling styles match-up. Remember, Lamont is the GOOD Peterson brother. He was competitive with Bradley (despite the scorecards), which commands respect. If Ortiz comes to box, Peterson could really surprise him (and many fans) with his ability to dance with him on even footing. If Ortiz goes for broke, we'll see if Peterson is made of stiffer stuff than his kid brother. Either way, my pick is indeed Ortiz by stoppage but probably not in a blowout.
I want to see that fight, but am really disappointed Vlad had an injury. I wanted to see him knock Chisora out. I know Haye will not fight him.
Peterson is all show....both of them. I see nothing in them that really points out. Nothing special. This is Peterson's chance to do something big. That being said this is Ortiz's fight to lose. Peterson has no power...enuff said. After this fight I want to see Ortiz in with a big puncher again...then we'll really see what Ortiz has.
I actually have Peterson winning this. I'm not 100% sure why, but I'm not sold on Ortiz yet. Feels like Peterson can handle and/or stay away from Ortiz' power, and that Ortiz may not be able to figure out Peterson's technique. That all being said - on this one, I won't be surprised if Ortiz wins by KO in round 1 either. All I know for sure, is that I'm gonna watch this fight.
It just smells like Ortiz is on a high after his latest wins. I don't really think that he's the kind of fighter who knows when his confidence is being built up by facing a little weaker opponents than he has to, and that could make him a little reckless. I see Ortiz coming out of his corner, believing that Peterson's skill level is in the same category as that of Vivian Harris, and being surprised by how wrong that is. He'd maybe go for an early KO and eat straight shots from the outside for a long, long while... until it's too late to adjust. But that's a big "if". Does Ortiz follow his gameplan and stay disciplined, he stands a really good chance.
