This is a great fight one that is love to see. Always been a massive Sasha fan and I’ve got to be honest I believed the Ortiz hype after he destroyed Jennings. But nothing I’ve seen since then suggests he’s the monster or boogeyman people suggested. Skilled and talented no doubt but not a wrecking machine. Sasha’s got a good record vs southpaws albeit against a drunk Perez and over the hill Byrd but faced a very good version of Chagaev. Both are faded forces but I’d favour Sasha to overwhelm Ortiz getting a mid to late stoppage.
Good fight and it's competitive but in the end Povetkin will prevail. Look at what they have done amateur and pro, Povetkin's accomplishments dwarf Ortiz's. When Ortiz was coming 2nd in the Cuban nationals in 2002, Povetkin was winning European gold. When Ortiz was coming 3rd in the Cuban nationals in 2003, Povetkin was winning World championship gold. When Ortiz was sitting at home watching his compatriot Solis box at the 2004 Olympics, Povetkin was winning Olympic Gold. As a pro Povetkin has beaten Charr, Takam, Perez, Wach, Duhaupas, Chagaev and lost to Wlad and Joshua. Ortiz as a pro has beaten Jennings, Scott, Allen and lost to Wilder. Povetkin I think is a class above Ortiz. He'll grind Ortiz down as Ortiz doesn't have the movement to keep Povetkin off him and while Povetkin will fade, so will Ortiz. Ortiz has a punchers chance but Povetkin is durable and I think he'll overwhelm Ortiz and KO him inside 6 rounds.
Wilder's rep is slightly more vulnerable to a decisive win for Povetkin as Ortiz is his signature victory, whereas most would rate AJ's won over Wlad as his best. I have Povetkin should this fight happen. Hope it's does!
