Yes this is true. He was an unknown quantity going into the Povetkin fight but he proved he could hang at that level by being so competitive a guy who was seen as the clear number 2 in the division behind Wlad at the time. Takam has flaws like any fighter but he's proven against Povetkin and now Parker that he's no push over and will put up a good fight against good opposition. Would be very impressive if Ortiz dominates which I think he will do, nobody at the moment is as good as Ortiz toe to toe. Now that doesn't mean he's the best as I said earlier I'd like to see him against a super heavy that can move a bit and force Ortiz to chase, he may struggle against a moving target. He looks very good so far but against similar style of fighters that play to his strengths, give him something else other than a stationary target and he may suddenly look ordinary.
Ortiz stops Takam in the middle rounds. I thought Parker and Andy Ruiz were fighting for the WBO title ?
Takam is a pretty ordinary HW, he gets overrated by the legions of Povetkin/Parker fans. Ortiz will clown this guy.
Yawn... look into the case yourself, don't just blindly gulp down everything you get fed by the powers that be.
Test failed. He was over a limit which already allows too much leeway IMO. The bottom line is he's a drugs cheat and all your conspiracy theories won't change that.
Not as naive as the 'these guys are all innocent, they just ate contaminated meat/were spiked' brigade.
Thing about anabolic steroids is the benefits of use remain for up to a decade. The one year bans being handed out are not really a deterrent. I think the same for track people who are caught, no real deterrent.
Really good fight and a nice card as well. Would be nice to see the card get U.S tv coverage but I don't think that will happen unless its some afternoon ppv one that we get on occasion. Takam seems like a good fit for Ortiz style wise and Ortiz should be the favorite but its a competitive fight and a Takam win is no upset.
"There is no Takam fight for Luis Ortiz because Johann Duhaupas is the silver champion and Takam's team just won the purse for the WBC silver so that fight happens now," Duhaupas manager Mehdi Ameur exclusively told World Boxing News. This paints a different story.... Takam vs Duhuapas?
That would be a very interesting fight, both guys I tend to see as the doorway to the top tier guys so could be a hell of a rumble.
I've been hoping for alot from Ortiz, but he hasn't been fighting that much. I think he's the best, but maybe not for long and he's old and everybody knows it and apparently nobody on the business side is willing to put his **** together and make it work. It's sad. Happy to see King Kong duke it out though.
