I would favour Luis Ortiz slightly but it's basically a 50-50 fight, i don't know how much Ortiz still has left at this point but i think the Ortiz who fought against Jennings would beat Wilder.
If Ortiz's mug is windmilled by one of Wilder's sneaky, patented wild punches, then it's goodnight muchachos and back to Havana Cuba in an undersized guajavera for Ortiz. However, if Ortiz manages to cunningly keep his bloodshot eyes on Wilders wild antics and evade Wilder's frantically frenetic Windmilling, then Ortiz has a good chance of outpointing him via his superior boxing skills.
Ortiz has looked pretty cumbersome in his last couple of fights but I think he's the type of fighter who brings up his level depending on the competition and his competition recently has been pretty dire. I think he'd be too clever for Wilder and would outbox him fairly comfortably. But I very much doubt the fight will happen anyway.
Ortiz may not be the same fighter from a couple of years back but imo he still has enough to beat Wilder. Ortiz is a very good counter-puncher and will take advantage of Wilder's poor technique and his poor defence. I see Ortiz stopping Wilder at some time around the 8th round.
I think Ortiz reach might be too much for Wilder. 84 vs 83 inches. Not to add superior boxing skills on top of that...
Wilder doesn't have the cojones to get in the ring with Ortiz, and he is as desperate as Can Martin was for a Femi cash out.
I'll be rooting hard for Wilder, but am worried about this as well. Ortiz has the pedigree and has shown it in past fights. He also packs a wallop. If Wilder were to beat Ortiz, I would think of him as the hw champ.
