All controversy aside, I believe Ortiz was a good opponent. Better than Bradley, who offers absolutely NOTHING to Mayweather or Pacquiao.

I agree and was going to make a thread about this, but you did it for me :good
He was 164 a southpaw, had a lot of energy and faster than I thought. He was also pretty light on his feet for his age. He gave Floyd a tough fight even though he was dominating it.

When Mosley caught Floyd, ppl said he was too old to follow up, but Ortiz tried following up with his youth more relentless than Mosley did in the 4th

Ortiz was a decent opponent at best.

Really, anyone that Pacquiao or Mayweather face other than each other is bull****.

They're simply on another level than the other guys at WW (or 140).

Just goes to show that "young hungry lion" < a proven veteran. Also shows that welter is anemically thin considering Ortiz was considered by many to be #2 in the division.

The only other opponent that makes any sense is Khan.
He is the only one (other than Manny) with the skill to trouble Mayweathwer.

yeah I agree with this, but I'm just comparing him to every body except Pac.

    Great: Sergio
    Good: Ortiz
    Decent: Bradley
    Bad: Spadafora

Khan gets pick apart by Floyd. Floyd is FAR too skilled, intelligent, and well rounded for Khan. It would take Floyd a couple rounds to adjust and then it's all Floyd from there on.

Mayweather is a boxing Einstein, Khan is Forrest Gump.

Mayweather-Pacquiao is the only fight that either of those two should have.

FOR BOTH PACQUIAO AND FLOYD IN MY OPINION

    Legendary: each other

    Just one step below: Sergio

Good: Ortiz / Khan / Bradley / Cotto (only for Floyd)

Still acceptable: Berto / Maidana / Marquez (only for Pacquiao)

Not really acceptable but not "just bad": Alexander / Senchencko / M. Jones

Just bad: Spadafora / Margarito / Malignaggi

Better than Bradley? In your dreams.

Bradley beat Peterson easily. Ortiz struggled and got a draw.

Let's not start overrating this mental midget. He was a B-level fighter who quit against Maidana. Ortiz is a level below Bradley & Khan and his daddy, Maidana.

Bradley has WON his big fights. He would absolutely frustrate Ortiz and beat him up. Bradley cruised against Peterson while Ortiz struggled.

Not saying Bradley is a superstar or great competition for Floyd or Pac, but to my mind their results and the way they fight indicate that Bradley is the superior fighter. (I would have said this even before he lost all four noncompetitive rounds to Mayweather.)

He won one big fight, was knocked out twice, and had (I felt) a fortunate draw. Bradley has won big fights, and barely ever even run close.

Not saying Ortiz is a bad fighter, just think Bradley is a step above. Both Floyd and Pac are two steps above Bradley, three steps above Ortiz, I believe.

    A) You scored the Ortiz vs. Peterson fight for Peterson? I had it to Ortiz by 2 points.

    B) Because Bradley has had so many fights at 147 and looked so good. Jeez I guarantee I already know a couple hypocrisies of yours.

And this has nothing to do with aiming at you, but where are is all the appreciation for Mayweather being outweighed by 14 pounds? Isn't that, besides Cowboys Stadium, the sole reason why people ordered the Pacquiao vs. Margarito card?

Even Mosley was better opponent. I believe some experts had him winning; only Oscar picked Ortiz.

off topic..I'd rather fight a guy on juice than take two sucker punches.

Ortiz was a horrible opponent, the guy basically quit. He was made out to be a hungry young lion, and was the complete opposite. If he was hungry, he wouldn't have appologized three times, and try to kiss and hug Floyd each time. If he had been hungry instead of timid, Cortez would've had to force him back to neutral corner after the break. He also wouldn't have let Floyd grab his throat at the weigh in. Weak minded ***** who was just happy to be there.

There's so many guys out there at 147 who would've gave us a way better fight against Floyd than Ortiz it's not funny, Ortiz just happens to be the hyped up star that GB is using for now.
