I actually agree somewhat, that's how I saw it. When Ortiz hugged Floyd, Floyds hands were up (in fighting position), I didn't see Floyd trying to fake a hug, Floyd was ready to fight the whole time.

But for me, it was clear that Floyd knew what Ortiz was trying to do and that Ortiz didn't think the fight had started again yet and he took full advantage, so it was still a sucker punch. Sort of like punching a guy who is trying to touch gloves...like he did with Mosley. Floyd didn't trick Shane into touching gloves, Shane did it on his own, Floyd took advantage. Same as what he did with Ortiz. It's not as bad as tricking someone into a hug and then punching him, but it's still a sucker punch.

As a "great" fighter, Floyd should take the high road. He will win against Ortiz but spoiled the fight by punching an opponent who was not ready.

I've changed my mind now on this I think. Ortiz is a ****ing dumbass, and so is Cortez, the guy is a **** ref. The way Mayweather ended the fight by cheapshot is way way way below his skill level. And to be honest I still think the guys a *****. But the main persons to blame is Ortiz, for being an complete idiot, losing his mind in the biggest fight of his life, then dropping his hands and letting mayweather get 2 free shots flush to his chin. What a ****ing goofball. Also Cortez for his **** reffing, not controlling the fighters, not signalling clearly to restart the fight, not calling time in before resuming the action, and looking everywhere except at the fighters when he did 'resume' the fight.

But at the end of the day a cheapshot is a cheapshot, and a cheapshot is no way to win a WBC belt imo.

    Who's Cortez talking/pointing to?
    What he's saying?

Ah yes, he's trying to remember the script.

    An unexpected punch or blow.

Quick question to the TS, did you think Ortiz was expecting the left hook or not? Do you think Floyd took advantage or not?
Quick follow up, as Ortiz was looking at the ref after the left hook landed, do you think Ortiz was expecting the straight right or not? Do you think Floyd took advantage or not?

The ref had told them to fight on

    simple ... it means fight

if you choose to hug your opponent when your actually fighting and you get knocked out thats your fault

Mayweather could have drop kicked a rugby ball or fired a warning shot from a musket first. The other guy had his hands at his sides. And when he unloaded with a fully cranked right hand Floyd stepped in and twisted his full weight behind the shot on a guy looking the other way. A ***** is a ***** is a *****. Cut this however you want. Reality is going to remain unchanged.

The ref saying continue wasn't enough.

Mayweather was supposed to ask Ortiz if he was ready, cuddle him back like a great fighter does and kick his ass.

Ortiz got daddy problems and wanted mayweather to 'son' him.

Thats sounds fair but I think Floyd warned Ortiz 1)When he looked at him menacingly 2)When he threw the left hook.

After the ref called time in, should Floyd have shouted box to Ortiz?

I suppose it's all down to whether you are prepared to punch someone in the face who has their arms by their sides. A bit like shooting someone in the back whilst they are still walking away in a duel. Although it may seem shitty, it puts an end to the possibility of them taking you down.
