What stands out the most is not the blood in his mouth in the previous round, what stands out to me is the interview, he said with his own words, that it happened early in the 9th round. his trainer had to drag him away from the interview, why?:think Very simple, Damage control, yes there was alot of blood that he was spitting earlier that could have been from a cut, like I said the dark blood doesnt always mean broken jaw, its a bad cut when the blood is that dark Look at the rematch of Delahoya vs Chavez, no broken jaw but the blood was nasty and dark and there was alot of it as well. I think the round before that in which he whispered to his trainer, well Garcia asked him if he was okay, something was wrong with him weather it was his sternum being broken or not we dont know with Ortiz he is the one who created this mess. There is good reason to doubt him, I just think that what had took place was a bit of everything at once, 2 and a half training camps, then you have the LA Marathon, then the late sub, who fought back better than expected, Cracked Ortizs sternum, and busted his jaw it was a mix of all of it I think, but that round in which he and Danny started to whisper I think to me anyways it looked like the training was getting to him taking nothing from Lopez he was getting to him as well but I do believe it was a mix of everything the broken jaw was the final straw and he just quit. I would have liked to see him give his team one more round to if anything try to adjust, had he done that I dont think people would be so harsh on him right now.
ok ok so we'll say since he's been badly injured and this has all happened and he's clearly had veins torn and what not he's done fighting? clearly he's been hurt badly and should not put his health in further jeopardy he's young he's a lion he just aint so hungry any more and this injury is it i would retire and never fight agian if i was that injured no more best of luck to him in his retirement
That's pretty pathetic yet true. Fans are so demanding that making excuses and damage control is almost a part of training to be a boxer.
Skeptical about the 5th round breakage, could be damage control but if true then the quit is much more legitimized should compile pix between the 5th and 9th round to verify
You may be right... i do remember him whispering to Garcia. I thought, he wanted to quit bc he was tired. But Lopez was pouring it on him on that rounds before the stoppage.
This. I'm so sick of people calling him a "coward/*****" etc. I'm sure 99% of people talking **** about him here have never been in his position, at that level before.
Well according to ESB consensus: "HE'S A *****. FIGHT THROUGH THE PAIN. SO WHAT IF HE ENDS UP LOOSING USE OF THAT SIDE OF HIS MOUTH FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE, MUHAMMAD ALI DID IT... TWICE, AND LOOK AT HIM. E-RESPECT >>>>>>>>> HEALTH AND WELLBEING. NOW EXCUSE ME WHILE I TELL MY KID TO GET BACK INTO THE GAME WITH HIS CONCUSSION"
It's all good man, I get it. I was just having a laugh with Hermit. The problem with Ortiz is the comments he makes, the self doubt he had after the Maidana fight. Nobody would even bust his balls over this fight if he didn't say he didn't think he deserved to take a beating like that against Maidana I get it.
i totally understand atlanta he was young hungry and a lion but now he has been dreadfully injured it's huge i think he should just call it a day he's clearly been hurt best of luck for ortiz in his retirement
