I saw nothing new in that fight.Ortiz still fights the same way and Berto still can not deal with Southpaws.When Ortiz fought Peterson,Peterson found a way to deal with Ortiz and Ortiz could not come up with plan B.He still moves in straight lines and he can be frustrated.His power is unquestionable but he will need careful match making and not be put in with a boxer in there otherwise he gets his ass whooped again.
thats exactly how i feel. a matchup with mayweather is a nightmare for ortiz, although mayweather has shown some weaknesses towards southpaws i think ortiz is simple enough for mayweather to handle. ortiz would fare better against pacquiao since pac takes risks in the ring and ortiz could get lucky and land with one of his power shots. either way ortiz probably isn't going to beat either one of those guys so i don't know what there really is for him to fight. everyone else in the division he has a legit chance of beating.
Berto got exposed. He couldn't handle the pressure ortiz put on him. I really like to see ortiz fight clottey or mike jones next but people are already wanting him to fight pac or mayweather. **** it make pac vs ortiz next.
On the other hand he didn't gas, didn't panic, looked fresher, stronger, more focused and mentally tougher than Berto, all that in his 147lbs debut and arguably biggest challenge to date. The question marks around Vic never were about his abilities or style but if he can still work them under demanding situations, and we got a lot of positive answers, so did he. There's a lot to build on, and he just turned 24.
Clottey vs Ortiz would be an interesting fight. I really don't think very highly of Mike Jones and I don't see why he would deserve a title shot yet. hes beaten nobody noteworthy. Ortiz can't beat mayweather or pac, so fighting guys like Clottey, Collazo, Williams or Cintron if they come back down in weight... would be really good fights i think. particularly Ortiz vs Cintron. Both hit pretty damn hard.
Ortiz is the same fighter as before he hurt berto in round one and berto was out on his feet and still survived. I see thread saying ortiz would beat khan, maidana, cotto. he would lose to all 3 easily. and he has lost to maidana before in case people forgot. don't be lead on by ortiz lies that the maidana fight was stopped too early. HE SAID right after the fight. he doesnt deserve to be getting hit like this.
I didn't see the fight. But, I am not surprised that Berto stunk up the place. Dude is garbage. Surprising that Ortiz fought with courage, because I had already labeled him a front runner in my mind. Guess, I am going to have to watch it ASAP. Hooray for us, this Berto bandwagon might be over. Same **** that happened with Jermain Taylor.
