Ortiz's win over Campbell > Khan's win over Malignaggi IMO

That's NOT to say I think Ortiz is a better fighter than Khan - I do not.

But Paulie Malignaggi was absolutely shocking on Saturday - I didn't think it was possible that he could perform even worse than he did against Ricky Hatton, but the "Magic Man" went out there and proved me wrong.

Paulie childishly blamed Buddy McGirt for his woeful showing vs Hatton - but the same amateurish flaws were evident in his game vs Khan as well. His head movement is as bad as anyone elses' that I've ever seen. Yet again his static skull was sitting there like a speedbag getting caught with pretty much every single straight punch. Paulie has chin and heart, but he does not have world championship level ability. And I must say, I was very glad to see a Roach fighter hand his ass to him after all his pathetic bitching about Pacquiao in the media.

Amir Khan was excellent in defeating Paulie. He didn't have to be at his best, he wasn't pushed to produce anything special, and he did get marked up a bit, but ultimately he dominated the fight and showed superb speed and movement in doing so.

Victor Ortiz had a slightly tougher assignment in front of him, as I see it. Nate Campbell is definitely a past-prime fighter now, but he still has the toughness and the skillset of a very good fighter. Although Campbell looked **** against Bradley, Bradley is one of the very best fighters in a great light-welterweight division, possibly even the best. Remember - it was only a year ago that Campbell edged Ali Funeka, a fighter who beat Joan Guzman fairly and that Guzman had to then cheat to get past.

I think Ortiz showed good combination punching ability, something that Khan did not really have to do since he could catch Malignaggi so easily with single shots and stay out of range.

Both guys impressed me, but purely based on Saturday's evidence I liked Ortiz's performance more.

I say we have to look at a fighter's previous fight in order to judge his performance in his next. Malignaggi looked great against Juan Diaz, Campbell looked old and done against Bradley. This is why I think Malignaggi is the better win. I'd pick Malignaggi right now to beat Campbell.

Looking at only one fight is stupid though.

Of course you have to take into consideration the opponent they faced. If you compare the most recent performances of Shane Mosley and Michael Katsidis, then by your logic a win over Katsidis would be worth more than a win over Mosley if those two guys were involved in fights again this autumn. Should it not come into consideration that Shane fought Floyd Mayweather, whereas Katsidis fought Kevin Mitchell?

Bradley at 140 is a far, far tougher assignment than Juan Diaz at a catchweight above 135.

Campbell was far more shocking than Malignaggi on Saturday, didn't throw a punch in vain.

I agree with this and how looking at one fight is stupid. I heard Campbell did enough to beat Funeka and even dropped him, I didn't see the fight yet.

In my eyes, Campbell has always had a much better skillset than Malignaggi. I think Ortiz's workrate, footwork, speed and combination punching ability were what made Campbell look old and outclassed. Malignaggi is basically a stand-alone punchbag that moves round the ring. He has no defence and very little ability.

I don't chalk it up to a bad gameplan, but rather that Malignaggi is just not very good. At all.

I've never actually seen a Campbell fight before (only a clip of him getting cocky and dropping his guard, and then getting KO'd). That Ortiz fight was the first time I've seen him, and eesh, he looked appalling. Far worse than Malignaggi.

Track down Campbell vs Juan Diaz and Campbell vs Ali Funeka. Campbell is a complete *******, but he has good skills. Far, far better than Malignaggi ever had.

It's both. He is poor, but even a poor fighter should be able to use a bit of head movement. Even if he has poor reflexes, he should still be moving his head all the time during the fight when he is looking for openings, like Manny Pacquiao does for instance. If you don't have the reflexes of a Mayweather where you can be reactive, then at least be a moving target instead of a statue. Lamentable strategy.

Campbell is totally shot, he is a joke now, Ortiz wasn't impressive at all either, the guy has never heard of a bodyshot he is a headhunting heartless clown.

Campbell was done a long time ago. He beat Diaz and he is the next best thing next to slice bread. He is a good talker and has many excuses why he lost. Paulie looked horrible, but I didn't think Khan fought like some superstar. I still think he is wild and leaves himself open a lot. He will get better, but they (Roach) knows why the chose Paulie as a opponent. Ortiz did not have a live opponent and he looked a little gun shy when when Campbell did throw a punch. He better wake-up before he gets in the ring with someone that will actually attack him. He has too know when to box and when to press. Just me, but he just looks confused at times.

No disrespect , but wasn't he a joke when he dropped his hands and got KO'ed by Peden. He then gets a rematch to avenge his loss and loses again. Later, he beats Diaz and he is the king of the LW's. Beats Funeka which was a close fight and now he is shot. I feel that he was in the right place and right time for beating Diaz.
