Ortiz's win over Campbell > Khan's win over Malignaggi IMO

Malignaggi looked good against Diaz because Diaz is a soft punching 135lber with a poor outside game. Paulie was the faster, stronger, bigger fighter of the 2 and even tho he did school Diaz the second time around, he was getting tagged repeatedly by the slower, smaller, fighter who has no outside game and in no way was Paulie schooling Diaz the first time around.

Now in Campbell's case, he beat Diaz at his own game when Diaz was still undefeated and most importantly in his best fighting weight which was 135. IMO that was Nate's best fighting weight also and both Campbell and Diaz have no business at 140.

Nate does good with fighters that stand in front of him, but mobile fighters like Paulie would be a nightmare for him. That doesn't make Paulie a better fighter tho, because Nate still has a good right hand/uppercut too, but at 140 it doesn't seem to have the same effect it had at 135. Ortiz didn't stand in front of Nate much and has power of his own to keep Nate humble, but it would be interesting to see Ortiz handle Paulie to see where he's at. It might answer and clear some questions to see if he's ready for Khan or Khan ready for him.

Both Campbell and Malignaggi were handpicked opponents. Neither guy was in any reall risk of losing. Ortiz's assignment was slightly tougher, but still a relatively easy fight.

No he wouldn't. Malignaggi is a one handed fighter with no power. His best punch is a jab, so he would be in some real trouble against a Soutpaw boxerpuncher like Ortiz.

I believe he would. An orthodox jab can be extremely effective against a southpaw if you control the footwork and pace of the fight. Malignaggi is more adaptable than Ortiz and IMO a smarter, more precise and better all-around fighter.

:rofl Paulie has ZERO defense to go along with having ZERO pop in his punches. I don't even like Ortiz BUT he would definitely whoop Paulie's ass. Probably stops him too.

You're out of your mind. Malignaggi would have little shot against Ortiz. That's a bad matchup for him. Paulie's footwork is not even all that great and he has not shown a good ability to control the pace of a fight. If a guy is coming right at Paulie, and doesn't have a lot of power, Paulie can excel. If you put him in there with someone who can box, he's going to be in some trouble. How the hell is Paulie a better all around fighter than Ortiz? You must be a Khan fan.

I am a Khan fan but I thought Ortiz looked very bad against Campbell, before Khan and Malignaggi even stepped into the ring. I really thought Paulie looked better than Ortiz, despite losing to Khan whom I thought looked pretty on point.

I'd put my money on Malignaggi in that fight. It's not that I think that highly of Malignaggi, its more that I don't think highly of Ortiz. Being a Khan fan has nothing to do with it.

  9. A less dominant win over a lesser fighter is more impressive?

yea i thought he looked pretty bad, no doubt. Even though he won 9 out of 10 rounds. I'm downloading the fight now and explain later.

Campbell at his best was a much better fighter than Malignaggi.

Of last Saturday's versions of the two? Malignaggi > Campbell. If you can attribute Campbell looking helpless and barely throwing to Ortiz's movement and activity (which is bull****, Campbell just looked horrible) - you can't then deny the same application of that bull**** to Khan-Malignaggi and say "Malignaggi didn't have bad head movement, Khan was just able to get to him lightning fast before he could move his head". Fair's fair - you can have it one way, or the other.

All bull**** excuses aside - both losers looked really bad. Both winners looked good (but Khan looked better, and against the gamer opponent on the night - although Campbell's a better name on Ortiz's resume).

:blood Not really. If anything ortiz would lose to some hard-hiting Game fighter who would rough him up. Not to one dimensional feather fisted average fighter like malignaggi.
