Oscar: A Career Perfectly Managed or Perfectly Ruined

We never saw Oscar at his best. He became a businessman way too soon.

We saw him at his best losing to elite fighters and getting gifts against others.

 

Oscar's career was managed very well but later on in his career the big fights and activity weren't there as often, but before 2000 or so Oscar was on for fighting and taking the challenge, not saying he didn't do it later in his career, it's just that since he became 154 Champ his career took on a different phase.

 

You see I think that's bullsh*t. Considering he is even with Mosley (2nd fight) and that he beat Trinidad (unofficially) he did beat fighters that were elite. PLUS, there are so many great fighters who have losses on their record.
The better opposition and bigger challenge you face the bigger the chance that your 0 might go.
I'm not a big fan of him but he lost, came back, fought the best, lost, came back, fought the best again. He deserves some respect.

You make it sound like he was never a force.

 

Name a fighter that doesn't have a gift on his record.

 

Not saying he was a force of course he was but wasn't the force his fans make him out to be and his record against the elite proves it.

 

RJJ, Hopkins just to name a couple.

 

I think he's the best major promoter. He puts his fighters against the best.

 

Boxing historians may not rank DLH in years to come at the very top of ATG lists, as he lost most of the time he faced the very best, but he will tend to be ranked more highly here on ESB, as posters on ESB like accomplishments.
