Cotto needs to make it impossible for Floyd to ignore him, beating Margarito in July is one step closer and from there, look to take the belt that Quintana and Williams are contesting for.

Then he should start the call out process, in my book if he takes the belt from Margarito, then takes the belt from Quintana, he'll surpass Calzaghe and Paq to be #2 P4P and will put big pressure on Floyd to the point that if Floyd doesn't face him, it's blatant ducking.

    I don't see it.

Cotto deserves respect as a guy who has steadily improved himself in the last two years to be knocking on the door as P4P #1 in a time where the other fighters (Paq and Mayweather Jr) have been cashing their chips, not fighting for legacy.

I defo respect and like to watch Cotto.
I agree he has improved every year since the division became light with marqueee names and has taken the top spot.
Cotto has defo stepped his game up, his last fight against Gomez was a blowout win for him and Miguels confidence was on another plain for him. that being said, There is still alot of flaws in his style and Oscars defense first/counter punching style would match up well against Cotto's plodding and flatfoot style.
(I wish we do see a Cotto vs. De La Hoya in December)

Oscar wants no part of Cotto and will hide behind his wife saying he won't fight PRs.

Cotto would systematically break Oscar down at this stage.

I would love to see De La Hoya and Cotto go at it. Cotto really busts Oscar up and stops him late.

If its one thing I've always noticed with Oscar is that he can't handle fighters with superb balance and timing. Floyd was pint pointing him the whole fight. Even Sturm who wasn't really all that quick but he was timing his shots had Oscar all screwed up. Cotto is one of the most accurate punchers in boxing today and you ad that with the dynamite that are in Cotto's fists and his ability to put punches together PLUS his body attack. I never have been impressed with DLH's Flurries...They always get offset by well timed punches...Cotto will have DLH's face looking jacked if they ever fought.

Prime Oscar makes short work of prime Cotto.

And this time yesterday, I would have said he still would.

But after last night's bout, I think Oscar has declined a fair bit.

I gave him the fight by 10 -1 - 1 (some ridiculous scoring on the round- by-round thread last night) but he didn't look as sharp as even last year against Floyd.

Unless Forbes has been underrated for a while, I believe Oscar would have his hands full with Cotto.

And as recently as last weeek I figured he had as good of a chance against Floyd in the rematch as he did in the original fight (35 - 40 %). I would now downgrade that chance to 20-25%. His stamina looked fine but his power and timing seemed diminished.

Oscar shouldn't have fought Cotto tonight he should be fighting Cotto in September.

Forbes vs. Gomez should have been there tune fights for each other.

Oscar still has the star power to make Cotto a superstar everyone would watch that fight.

It gives Oscar to show the chance that he really wants this and wants to beat Floyd and it gives Cotto the chance to be on the biggest stage all the while showcasing his skills.

    The winner gets the champ....

Floyd beats both and he can retire and with wins over a rejuvenated Delahoya because a Cotto win would be bananas for him or the superstar Puerto Rican sensation who in all truth deserved the shot awhile ago....

    Greedy greedy Floyd lol...
