Why not oscar and Pav...i know oscar had a tough time before at MW...(in fact that body shot by b-hop is a perfect example of those wishing to come from a lighter weight class up should have pause) but....
    (1) oscar wants a big $$$ fight by the end of the year
    (2) even if he wants to go out on top, beating up on a junior welterweight isnt the way to go
    (3) if the fight is in vegas...oscar is a prince there and youngstown will travel
(4)oscar moving up 6lbs isnt out of the realm of possibility
    (5) for pav, sending the golden boy into retirement isnt bad for your career
    (6) i know...i know...a lot of postings will get in against this...and thats fine...but lord oh lord...the $$$ this fight would generate

Oscar wouldnt even consider this fight.

If the fight went ahead it would be a Pavlik massacre.

ODH has bigger and better (for him) options in Hatton, Cotto and Pacquaio(?)

No, he wouldn't. He can make just as much if not more fighting Cotto. Not to mention no amount of money could get Oscar to step in the ring with Pav, he's just not cut out to be a middleweight.

Not a very smart fight for Oscar who probably wouldn't even consider it. Pavlik has the frame to move up another division and Oscar struggled when he moved up to middleweight. He could probably make more fighting the winner of Margarito - Cotto.

Yes, of course. However I would be far more inclined to pay for De La Hoya vs Margo / Cotto. :good

as a pure boxing fan so would i (you are right) but that fight is a means to an end (trying to get PBF outta retirement) so if oscar only wants one fight (which can be debated whether or not he's serious) then why not? (btw i do like pav but i don't worship at his alter like a lot of people do i'm just trying to be a dreamer)

I just think the size differential would be too great and De La Hoya knows it. I'd be rooting for Oscar to win, which brings me on to my next point. It would be just one more fight but De La Hoya would like to go out on top.

Not being a fully paid up member of the PBF fan club I'm hoping he stays retired. I'd much rather see Cotto - De La Hoya.

i doubt dlh wants to end his career in a strecher. Pavlik can put the Golden boy to sleep. Oscar has one hell of a chin, but pavlik would turn of the lights

I would hang my head in shame, and resign from the Pavlik Nation for good.

i agree with you but if oscar is serious about hangin' em up....why wouldnt i want him to go out fighting the best....his fight w/ tito waaaaaay back when is when i started really following boxing. i understand the arguments (many of which are very good) about him fighting the logical match (being cotto/margarito) but i have followed him for so long i guess im allowed to dream a little

Listen -- I like Oscar, but a fight with a monster like Pavlik makes no sense. The winner of Cotto/Margarito would be an honorable, even gutsy choice, and he might actually win, or at least put on a helluva show. That would make a good end to a great career. Getting mangled by Pavlik would not.
