Cotto doesn't want to be seen like what De La Hoya and Hatton are, they are mere prostitiutes.

Cotto said he doesnt need Mayweather right now and after he cleans out the Welter division the fight would have to be made and if Cotto does manage to beat Mayweather at the end, would be interesting how Cotto will go down in boxing history.

What really bothers me is that Cotto claims that he won't fight with 10 oz. gloves. Now if he fought Mayweather, it would have to be in Vegas with the 10 oz. gloves. Mayweather was willing to go up in weight and let Hoya pick out the brand of gloves he used in order to get that fight made. I see many on this site claiming that Cotto will beat Mayweather with relative ease. If he's as confident as his fans, he shouldn't let 2 oz.s get in the way of this fight.

Why does the fight need to be in Vegas? MSG sounds like a better venue for this one.

Cotto probably should get more vocal, but it's obviously not his personal style. Plus, he has Margarito worry about. Plus, he has the entire boxing world calling Floyd out for him. Why waste the breath?

That's an easy one to answer. GBP got a $10 mill site fee for the Hopkins/Calzaghe fight. That fight still isn't even close to selling out. A Mayweather/Cotto fight would sell out in a matter of minutes. So you can imagine the site fee that the promoter could command. The site fee would be higher than at MSG, the live gate would be higher. The PPV numbers would be the same. So basically, the fight makes more money in Vegas than at the Garden.

Cotto has not called out any fighter in his whole career, i dont think he'll start now. Plus i find it way more interesting watching him clean out the division and fight everybody and anybody until he is able to fight Mayweather. Id rather see taht then watch Mayweather fight a past his prime Oscar De La Hoya TWICE. Cotto is a true fighter. If he keeps diong this and beats Mayweather he will go down as the best fighter of our generation in my opinion.

Bro if you've been fighting with 8oz gloves your entire life, it makes a big difference. First of all Floyd is in a better position to be able to use 10oz gloves he is a very fast handed fighter so it really won't kill his speed. What if Cotto isn't at his best "speed wise" on the day of a fight + he has to use 10oz gloves? It would be shitty for him. And a boxers hand speed is always different on any given fight and you just never know a 2oz swing may not seem that much but it truly is.

All Cotto has to do is keep beating the top WW's while Floyd whores himself to the hghest bidder.

more excuses and bull**** flying out of your mouth. floyd the smaller fighter has never complained about glove size because he trians in 16oz gloves. cotto better start doing the same if he wants a floyd fight.:deal

A fight against Mayweather would be Cotto's biggest payday, and would be against the best fighter the world has to offer. You cannot let 2 oz's ruin the fight. Remember, Floyd has only fought 2 fights with 10 oz gloves. So it's not like he's been fighting with them his entire career. Floyd conceeded the weight against Hoya, he let him pick out the gloves as well. Hagler let Leonard set all types of stipulations to get that fight. Judah took 100k to get Spinks in a rematch. If Mayweather agrees to fight Cotto, he'll have to go to Vegas. That's where it makes the most financial sense. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices to get that career defining fight.
