To be fair, i bet they did hit the pads he was holding. Still, he was probably trying to hype his fighter because film and records does not support his claim at all. Though i will add that Bonavena is the only one who ever scored, in my opinion, legit (flash) knockdowns on Chuvalo; something neither Foreman or Frazier managed to do.

    Perhaps he did.

If he did then it only proves that power is not worth two buckets of warm spit unless backed up by other characteristice.

You could possibly find a journeyman who hit harder than Rocky Marciano/insert fighter.

Goldman said he had to teach Rocky how to throw a punch. Perhaps Bonavena had more raw power. I could buy into that argument, but I never saw anything on film that suggest Bonavena hit harder than Marciano.

Did Bonavena have a better chin than Chavalo? Frazier got to Chavalo early and TKO'd him, yet he could not floor Bonavena in 2 fights.

John Garfield said Rocky Marciano hit the heavy bag as hard as Sonny Liston and George Foreman. This says something about Rocky's Raw power.

As for Charlie Goldman, he must have been huffung butane. I have seen Charley Goldman say Rockys Suzy Q right hand was the most powerful natural punch he had ever seen....It would only need to connect once flush and that would be all she wrote.

Bonavena is the only man with anything approaching a claim to knocking down Chuvalo, a man with a ATG chin and he dropped Frazier multiple times. Ali couldn't manage that once in almost 45 rounds.

There's many twists and terns in determining whether Bonavena's chin or Chuvalo's was better. True Frazier tko'ed Chuvalo, and had to go the distance twice against Bonavena without ever coming close to a knockdown, but Jimmy Ellis decked Oscar twice, and almost a third time, yet went 12 with Chuvalo without coming close to decking him, and Ali twice went the distance with Chuvalo, and decked Bonavena 3 times in the 15th of Ali's second comeback fight since the exile. Also, Zora Folley basically shut out Bonavena in 1964 or '65 over 10 rounds and decked him along the way, and decisioned Chuvalo at one time in the mid 60's and failed to knock down the Canadian in that fight. So overall, it seems that Chuvalo's chin, against common opponents, that is was the better of the two.

If you watch the film of the Bonavena-Chuvalo fight of '65, which went to Oscar by a 10 round decision, you'll see Chuvalo make 2 trips to the canvas. One of these trips was, for all intents and purposes, a slip, but the other one, to me anyway, looked like a knockdown...I think a punch landed from Oscar, and Chuvalo went down. That's what it looked like to me. Now I recently got a cd with a bunch of fights on it from poster Raging Bull, and one of the fights is Bonavena-Chuvalo, and I'm going to look at those two trips to the deck made by Chuvalo.

I guess because Marciano took round after round to knock out glass chin middleweights like Archie Moore it makes him a lethal puncher? Give me a break

You are white right? You know you dont matter right? Lol you live in your fantasy world where 180 pound white fighters can beat 220 pound black fighters. I live in a world where you can't even keep people from running across the border. You do relize that right?

In the world i live in Archie Moore was a middelweight who was knocked out by middleweights. In the world i live in Marciano took 8 or 9 rounds to knock out a 40 year old version of Archie Moore. You do realize that right?

    Get off Marciano's nutts
