ey interesing fight, i never did think about this one. i think that it is a pretty fair match, prime vs prime, bonavena was the stronger man for sure(i don´t care about the beautiful body of norton), bonavena was more robust and he had more functional physical strength, norton was more skilled, taller and 9 pound sheavier prime vs prime . bonavena had clearly a better chin he took shots from ron lyle, frazier and chuvalo, norton had maybe a little more of stamina, hitting power is pretty even but i go with bonavena, norton had a much better jab, but his style was great against boxers type ali or holmes, i don´t know how he would fare against a tough , strong like a bull, short and rhythm breaker like bonavena.

Bonavena was a very strong guy,but not really a hard puncher,so Norton would n't be in danger,in my opinion,of being knocked out. Ken was a better boxer and would beat Oscar on a clear decision.

BONAVENA WAS A HARD PUNCHER FOR SURE, THE PROBLEM IS THAT HE DID NOT HAVE GREAT ACCURACY OR SKILL TO HIT IN THE CORRECT MOMENT AND CORRECT PLACE , THE SAME THING WITH CHUVALO, BUT WHEN THEY DID CONNECT A GOOD HAND THEIR KOS WERE VERY HARD. Norton would be in danger because bonavena dropped frazier twice and frazier had a better chin than norton.

Ali, Frazier, Lyle and 44 other guys all disagree with your assessment ;)

"It goes under, then over. If it lands, you'll think you've been hit by a truck. Don't forget he's a converted southpaw, so most of his power is in that left." -- Angelo Dundee to Ron Lyle re: Bonavena

"He'll try to overpower you in the opening round and if he gets through with that left hook, it's over." -- Chickie Ferrara to Lyle.

A really interesting match-up, surprised it never happened. I definitely think Oscar could hurt Norton if he landed and possibly even drop him or stop him but I think that would be a long shot. I think he would be too wild and undisciplined to follow up effectively and Norton would wiggle off the hook and fight cautiously and defensively the rest of the way. I think Norton wins a fairly close decision.

Bonavena. Hes sturdier. Norton gets overrated based on his fights with Ali.

A very motivated "Ringo" might surprise Norton and win the fight.

Norton by split decision....with the crowd booing the result.

it's hard to say, because Bonavena never had a performance against a fighter of Norton's level.
