It’d be more interesting in the 70s Ringo IMO could’ve won then, in the 80s Foreman would’ve just chopped him up slowly and jabbed him up, I don’t think he stops Oscar but Foreman would out point the Argentine Beetle and it’d only get interesting in the later stages of his comeback.

Oscar couldn't beat a 37 year old Patterson ... the Foreman that fought Holyfield would beat him with his jab and his strength ..

I agree. Oscar would have his moments, perhaps even shake Foreman a few times but ultimately it’s a George win - possibly a stoppage in the very late rounds.

Yeah that’s how I see it too. Oscar was a nightmare to try and score a stoppage over

He got repeatedly floored by Ellis who wasn't exactly a Marciano-esque puncher at 185-200

I agree with all but the late stoppage part, unless it is on cuts or some other technical stuff like Ali did.
Oscar was a crude boxer, but also rugged and tough, with a stone hard chin, good stamina and endurance.
Maybe Big George manages same as Ali, but I doubt that is happening.

Yeah, I’m guessing most would pick George to win but the real bone of contention would be: could Foreman ultimately secure a KO/stoppage? Equally arguable from both sides I think.

I love that a 185-200 could do that - the beauty of boxing.

Jimmy could be a very sharp, very well timed puncher - even older, he had Shavers rocking and reeling in only the first round just prior to being pole axed himself.

Ultimately a bad policy to try and slug with the Acorn.

Another sharp, power puncher when inclined, Folley, also dropped Oscar IIRC.

I at least recall one point in one of their fights when Zora nailed Oscar with a straight right just before the bell -

Ringo was going down for all money but Zora saved him from hitting the deck by grabbing hold of him. A very gentlemanly act - ala Floyd Patterson.

Quite a few sensitive fighters going around in the late 50s/60s. Nice. :D

The main issue in my opinion is that Old George would be significantly slower and less mobile.

Big George is gonna hit Ringo badly per sure. But I doubt he will be able to achieve the type of sustained relentless pummeling required to crack Ringo's nut.
