i know it's a long shot, but if he can keep the rankings free of bias then i'd say yes. if he's really serious about cleaning up the sport then maybe he could be given him the benefit of the doubt for this move.

but if the rankings are all of a sudden populated by undeserving GBP fighters then **** him.

    I agree with Cooke.

But if people think it as bad as the dickhead that edited on the main page they are idiots.

At the end of the day, will it make much difference.

Put it this way would anyone be happy with Don King or Frank Warren buying the magazine??....then why would you be happy with DeLaHoya buying it???

While Ring Magazine isn't what it used to be, it was one of the last bastions of independent ratings that carried some weight.

Ocsar buying the magazine out puts the magazine's good will and credibility at risk.

Will Oscar use Ring Magazine for slanted press for his fighters? Will he use the magazine to get even with rival promoters? I think this is a real concern. While Ocsar won’t blatantly abuse this power, he is a sure bet to bend it to his favor on the less obvious levels.

What really sucks is I just ordered the subscription just a month before this news broke!! Now I wish I hadn't. Or then again maybe I was lucky to get in before the NewsStand price goes up to $595.95 an issue.:good

I think a promoter should never control media like this... but at the same time maybe in some way Oscar will bring more people to the sport through this. Good and bad, but I just see this as leading to bias in the rankings. Not hard to slip a fringe contender into the Top 10 here and there.

I voted "Good", but it should have probably been "Neither". Honestly, The Ring magazine will not change at all. People are frightened that the rankings will be full of all GBP fighters, but it's not going to happen. De La Hoya has said it won't happen and the editor will not allow it either.

For the magazine to be biased, every writer would have to be fired. Until that hapens, let's stop with all the pathetic, melodramatic posts, eh?

The only thing that will happen right now - That is actually being talked about, is establishing The Ring's title as the absolute best. What GBP want is all the best fighters fighting the best, and to determine who actually deserves the title "World champion".

From what we know now, everything coming out is great for boxing. If that changes, I'll happily eat my words, but right now, this is just what boxing needs.

Very bad. Like someone said if Arum or "Evil" King bought the Ring people would probably stop buying but people want to put Goldie boy on a pedestal. HBO is biased on Golden Boy so why not the Ring? Shouldnt Marquez of fought Pac again instead of Barrera? Wasnt DLH v Mayorga another hyped fight? Did HBO really have to make it fight of the year last year?
