Canelo is a JMW naturally, a big one but still a JMW.

All of you claiming he is killing himself or cant make 154lbs dont know jack sh*t. How do you know this? If he can't make 54 why did he just sign the fight with Smith? Canelo would be considered a small MW.

Fighter's "natural" division is the one in which he can make the lowest weight and be effective.

 

Whether Canelo struggles to make 154 lbs or not, the bottom line here is that he's never fought anyone past the 155 lbs weight limit.

Lets be real here, fighting at 155 lbs is basically two juniormiddleweights agreeing to step into the ring one pound over for what ever reason that may be.
Anyone with a brain knows Miguel Cotto isn't a bonafide middleweight, he a juniormiddleweight.

I think my stance of Canelo vs GGG would be different if Canelo was fighting middleweight contenders and then trying to impose a catchweight on GGG for the middleweight belts, but that's not whats happening here.
Canelo to this day has not fought a legitimate middleweight contender, that to me makes him a juniormiddleweight within his rights to fight at whatever the **** weight he pleases in.

Give me a break. Canelo is a 154lber who already pounded out Erisllandy Lara and Cotto. He's best in the division. Really looking forward to him cleaning out Andrade (after andrade ices the charlos and lara)

 

Canelo "WAS" a warrior and if he stays at 154 (okay he is 155) and does not want the MW title then power to his V:deal

It's not unreasonable to want Canelo to move up to MW.

He's the same build as a guy like Stevens and he can rehydrate by almost 20 pounds.

I doubt that he'll be able to healthily make 154 for much longer.

 

If he's a 154 lber fight at 154 lbs.

 

155 is closer to 154 than 160.
