What Mayweather and his over senestive fans fail to understand is nobody has a problem with the catchweight, is his and their hypocritical ways.

It may appear "silly" to you, but you're not the one involved with the negotiations. If I were you, I'll wait to see if Canelo will refute what Oscar said. After all, it was Oscar backing or protecting Canelo all this while, depending on who you believe, and that it was Canelo insisting on what he wanted? Or is Canelo now suddenly "humble" or "afraid" to correct Oscar on this?

I will tend to believe those with direct access to the negotiations over we ordinary Cyberspace analysts and understandably emotional posters.

This. It was a counter-offer to get the fight done. I agree with you, I don't understand why people make it so complicated. It's not.

So technically, yes, Canelo's team asked for the catch weight. And the reason was to compromise for a fight deal. That's how contract negotiations work. One side makes a request, the other side either agrees or makes a counter offer until you get an agreement.

It will be more correct to say that of yourself and "some others," actually. Many have posted disapproving of the catchweight.

You must have missed/deliberately refused to see the part of my post where I criticized Floyd, sorry. Please read my post again. Or would you rather see gory blood [towards this guy called Floyd] with every sentence?

Indeed. At first he actually said the catchweight is better for Alvarez because now he's going to hire a nutritionist and eat carefully selected food. Now he's saying Alvarez demanded it. He's just being a promoter and is doing his job of hyping the fight while trying to make it look like the catchweight has zero affect.

You can hype a fight while telling the truth to the fans. He can walk and chew gum at the same time. Unfortunately, he's too busy riding Mayweather's jock strip to be honest about the catchweight, and in the process is tilting the bout in Mayweather's favor.

Really? why can't you? a little honesty is too much to ask? a "fair and square" megafight is too much to ask? shouldn't a fight this big kinda sell itself by itself? if there was no catch weight and it was just a straight up 154 lb fight, you don't think DLH could hype the fight straight up? this catch weight is like a storm cloud raining over GBP. See, I want to get pumped for this fight, but the catch weight is a bummer. I've lost respect for Mayweather because he is showing himself to be a hyprocrit, and it's very disingenuous for DLH to make it sound like the catch weight was Canelo's idea. This ain't no SRL - Lalonde. There is no reason to have a catch weight within a division when both guys are champ. It's ludicrous on its face. And it's only happening because DLH is in bed with FMJ.

No offense man but if you honestly believe that promoters, managers or even businessmen play "fair" to make it far then you're either underage or a straight up fool. With all the endless examples out there about how promoters are all exposed as crooks in the long run one would think any half brained person would at least see something through it. Have you had any business experience in your life? Better yet, have you had any marketing classes at university or even high school? I hope for your sake at the very least you know that this is a business just as much as it's a sport.

I agree, but this one is insulting to the fans' collective intelligence, don't you agree? you're right about the crooks and deceit behind the scenes. But the corruption is usually not this obvious, you know what I mean?

And yes I am a college grad in a technical field with years of real world business experience.
