The DLH, Forbes matchup, was one that rebounded horribly for Oscar. The smaller, lesser powerful, 2 pound Stevie, was supposed to have wilted and been crushed by the superior Oscar. What Oscar has to begin realising, is that he is a shadow of his former self. Besides his jab, which is still pretty fair, his supposed power shots are mere left & right arcing swings. He tagged Forbes with plenty of what he considered his best shots and the little guy was still there at the end. He was hand picked by Oscar, to 'showcase' the wonderful Golden Boy. The gold is tarnishing very quickly! The contrived match making in this fight and the future fight on the cards, is a blight that should not have been allowed to take place. Instead of the Mafia fixing fights as was in the old days...now, it's the promoters themselves! The expiry date has passed on Oscar. If he truly has aspirations to climb into the ring with Cotto, then I know that I am correct that he has **** for brains! Cotto will dismember him.
remember; oscar has maybe the best left jab ever in boxing, according to emanuell stewart. Forget about about Liston..
i think a welterweight contender like clottey would have beaten oscar on that sort of form. let alone a floyd mayweather jr.
i think he looks inreasonable shape for a guy his age, but to take on the p4p number one? not for me mate
I predict most of the folks who notice Oscar isn't a match for Floyd will StILL buy the PPV come September. And as a reward for doing so, we'll get another slew of bull**** fights , and Floyd will continue to duck Cotto shamelessly.
Neither PBF or DLH will fight Cotto. They are not that stupid...I think. PBF knows that Cotto does not adhere to a predetermined script like the WWE. Little Forbes would have lasted maybe....2 rounds with Cotto. Margarito will be KO'd by Cotto. Yes! We will be subjected to a few more bull**** fights. After all, look at who is doing the promoting!
Once again....what fight were you guyz watching...:huh Oscar had all intentions of knocking out Forbes..it was part of his gameplan....Forbes' gameplan, which was obvious from the opening bell, was much like FM gameplan from a year ago...SURVIVE....Oscar failed to KO Forbes because "2 pound" refused to take any chances to win the fight and instead slapped and hid behind his defense...he knew he had no shot at victory and was content with surviving and hopefully gaining more televised fights because of that fact...now, it is extremely hard to KO someone who is just in survival mode and not allowing for any openings....this is how Forbes has functioned most of his career...he takes NO chances...and as a result he will never allow himself the chance to rise up and become a real contender! Oscar was clearly lowering his defenses and allowing shots to land because he just wanted to land the KO punch later in the fight...he was clearly showing no repsect for Forbes power...his defense will be much better against Mayweather as he will have his hands up and jab...if he can sustain the jab all fight long againts FM and not tire later in the fight than he has a better chance this time around of getting a decision victory! Either way, in the Forbes fight, I didn't see Oscar land a clean left hook the entire fight...he was always slightly off because Forbes would instantly bend away and cover up in his little shell...the times Oscar had him in trouble he held on for dear life and on seperation he just hid in his defensive shell....maybe not absorbing much punishment, but he was unable to provide any offense himself hidden the way he was :thumbsup To sum it up, Oscar's stamina looked great...and, in my opinion, his stamina was the only thing FM could capitalize on in the first fight...change that variable and who knows what is gonna happen come September. Also, gotta note that Oscar's combos looked sharp and on point...he was hitting from all angles...I think Mayweather Sr. has done a good job getting Oscar back on track...and with four months until the possible Sep date, I can't wait to see what new tricks Dela Hoya can bring to the ring. :bbb
his jab was good cause he was fighting a smaller fighter who had something like 10 inches less in reach.
PBF will Stop ODLH if they do fight again in September. Especially going by his Forbes fight. I think ODLH needs to revise his last few fights of his career especially because and i hope the public will not buy into ODLH VS PBF II surely not!
I hope that DLH gets to fight Cotto...it is my one wish to see this as Oscar's last fight...you all give Cotto way too much credit..he was, after all, backing away from Mosley during the last couple of rounds in their fight...Dela Hoya would walk/stalk Cotto down the entire fight and since Cotto does take chances, he would eventually be KO'd by the stronger fighter....please let reality set in...Cotto does not have more power than Dela Hoya....you guyz need to come back to reality! Maybe when Cotto actually defeats a good fighter (convincingly) my opinions will change slightly...but at this moment...read the above. Thanks.
