De La Hoya had the skill to be competitive with the elites from 140-154, it's a pick-em fight, I'd favor Martinez as De La Hoya didn't deal too well with the speedy fighters he fought
true, and his right hand was better at 154 (esp. in the Vargas fight), he was less of a one handed fighter, but yeah would not have Martinez worried about it coming down the middle
ya, Oscar has one of the worst stances I ever seen on an elite fighter. His head is perfectly centered.
What won him the fight against Pernell was the right hand. Against Manny he just couldn't fire off against a constantly moving target at that point in his career. Look at what Oscar did to Camacho, he had no problem with southpaws. His right ha nd is oft overlooked, a bit like Shane's left hook.
First 6 rounds would go 3 rounds each, but Sergio is faster, stronger, slick, and better stamina than Oscar at 154. Sergio has an underrated jab and forces fighters to fight at his pace. Sergio by KO. Oscars best weights were 135-147, not 154. He did look great in his rematch with Mosley where Oscar wa s robbed, but that was more like a high speed chess match. Sergio not as witty as Hopkins, but his athleticism makes up for it. Disagree how people now want to disregard his wins over Cintron, Pavlik, and Williams who was p4p as flukes. I dont think Sergio is overrated at all.
Sexy Sergio, he's up there with Sugar Ray Robinson. Oscar looks kind of nerdy and weird sometimes. I obviously don't. I'm an atheist dumbAZZ. I don't worship no man or woman who breathes the same air as me.[/quote] I have many Goddess Heroe's... I worship them!
Sturm won the fight against ODLH the same way that ODLH won against Mosley the second time; he controlled it with the jab and blocked most of the body shots (which people who want to find a reason to say ODLH won use to claim he outlanded Strum). Anyway, I'm a huge De la Hoya fan, but I think Martinez is really something special. Stylewise I think he could take it. He's fought tall, long guys with good jabs and beaten them up.
