Oscar De La Hoya: best 1st 5 years of any career ever??

Ignore the fact that it was only Oscars first fight at WW and his 5th year being pro. Experience doesn't mean **** now? I love how Oscar gets bitched at for fighting Whitaker and Chavez when they were past their best but nothing is ever said of him being very young and not at his peak yet. Also he was soooo much bigger then these guys, yet HE was the one moving up in weight.

 

So Bernard Hopkins Middleweight career and resume should be dismissed as "uninspiring" because he is a natural Lt Heavy???

 

But he did fight a prime Mosley and Trinidad. OOps, But he lost those ones...

 

He lost a razor thin decision to Mosley, but one elite losing to another elite DOES NOT make either one any worse. He just lost the fight, fought with the wrong game plan but it was clear that night that those two were on the same level. He lost to Tito, not because he wasn't as good as him, he actually proved to be much better then him.

 

Oscar got the benefit of being a media darling back then and should be brought up on charges for starting his career at 130 facing guys he had 6 inches or more in height. I hold his early record against him more so than making it out to be something great. He had no business fighting below 140 period the fact that he was dropped at those low weight classes tells you that he was draining his ass off to fight there. He also would have been schooled by a prime pea since a faded one pretty much toyed with him and still beat him. You're right I'm not going to give him credit for being younger because these guys were almost done when he fought them and she shoud have won easily because of his youth and size advantage over them. While on paper his early record looks impressive but if you look deeper it was a well crafted and not great at all.

 

Hopkins is a natural Middleweight. But how would he look if he stripped down to Welterweight to beat a bunch of much smaller Welters. to pad his record, & pick up a couple of cheap titles? Hopkins is a natural Middleweight & that's basically where he started.

 

Hopkins is not a natural middleweight. by self admission he would have been fighting at lt heavy his entire career if the money wasn't better at middleweight.

 

Yeah, Just kidding around. I actually thought Oscar won the first Mosley fight...

 

:rofl Wow! here we go, the bull**** is stinky this morning! Paul Williams, Diego Corrales, Bernard Hopkins, Margarito, Tommy Hearns...etc etc etc All big, tall fighters who appear(ed) much bigger then their competition.
