But I'm still OK with him fighting Conor because as an MMA fighter he's shown he has good punching power and commitment on his punches. I think Conor is adjusting well to boxing, if you watch his boxing lesson videos he's dropped, he seems to have a lot of the psychology down and shows that he has a lot of hand speed and possibly power. A lot of you who are hating on this fight during fight week will be glued to the TV waiting for Conor and Floyd to get it on. Oscar wants Floyd to rematch a boxer, namely Canelo, I will want to support Floyd vs Conor just to see what happens. Has Floyd lost a step? How big of a danger is Conor for Floyd. Just because Conor will be making his pro boxing debut he still has a ton of MMA kickboxing experience.

It’s much harder for a boxer to compete in MMA than it is for an MMA fighter to compete in boxing. Boxing is simply one of the many facets of MMA. When James Toney fought Randy Couture in a UFC cage, that was a joke. Toney had no chance, it was pointless.

However, that can’t be said the other way around because UFC fighters just have to adjust their kickboxing style to not having to worry about takedowns and defending them. There also haven’t been too many major Boxer vs MMA fighter fights in boxing, so this will be big because you have the former/recent P4P boxing champ vs one of the best fighters in MMA fighting under boxing rules.

So this is like a dream scenario for fans of both sports, a scenario that we really haven’t seen before. Boxing is the ultimate proving ground for MMA fighters, if an MMA fighter can beat a world class boxer in boxing, that’s something significant that would be unprecedented. As a boxing fan first and foremost I know if Conor wins MMA fans will have bragging rights, and many boxing fans feel that Floyd needs to win for boxing’s sake. But once again these emotions are due to the boxing vs MMA fanbase coming together for a rare event where an MMA fighter has a chance to beat a major boxer in his own sport. It’s going to capture the interest of the world.

You don't know anything about boxing if you think Conor has a chance against Floyd, plain and simple. Conor has absolutely no chance and this "fight" is a joke.

It could happen. Most Americans watch the UFC anyway. Canelo vs. GGG will be mostly hardcore boxing fans and Mexicans. John Smith from Idaho and his entourage is most likely going to watch Floyd vs. McGregor and they will believe McGregor wins. Could still make more numbers than GGG vs. Canelo. Every American with non-Mexican (or Hispanic) background is going to watch that fight.

The most ridiculous thing you hear dumb casuals saying is that Conor should copy what Maidana did. Maidana is like the total opposite of Conor's style (if you even can talk about Conor having a boxing style) and has totally different physique as well. Very few people can fight like Maidana actually, not even Pacquiao could. You can't just go there and brawl, you need to set up everything and a 0-0 "boxer" is just not able to do this.

And he doesn't have a gastank remotely close to Maidana either, Miadana could throw 100 punches a round. Mcgregor was gasping for air after only a couple low output rounds vs Diaz and despite working extra hard on cardio for the rematch was moving like he was underwater after a few rounds.

I do not think the fight will make a lot of money by the way. Every MMA fan I've talked to agreed it was a farce and said they were looking forward to it - in recording, the next day. They aren't as stupid as boxing fans like to think, and they have been literally spoiled rotten by excellent cards that UFC has put out - the best consistently fight the best, at their physical peaks, on equal ground. Paying $100 to see an noncompetitive match would be extravagant and out of character for even the most hardcore mma zealot.

As for boxing fans, lets face it - its between latinos and brits. Latinos will pick Canelo over Mayweather any day, but Brits just might connect enough with the Irishman to buy this farce - thankfully, for a lot less than the american price. If all goes well, the purses and the expenses in production will exceed the profits and the fight will tank - to my extreme satisfaction.

As for myself, my PPV money is, as it always has, going to the GGG/Kovalev PPV. Both will be fire and will feature the best pound for pound fighters in the world of boxing at the peaks of their game - something no mayweather fight has given us since he changed his name.
