Oscar De La Hoya- controversial decisions

The way I remember them Oscar was really only in three bad decisions fights and he should've won two of them.

 

I had him beating pea and Mosley 7-5.
Had him going 6-6 with quartey winning it with the final kd.
Had him beating Tito 8-4.
Never knew Molina was controversial and I haven't seen it.

Sturm beat Oscar 9-3
Floyd beat Oscar 8-4

 

Mosley 1 wasn't controversial neither. Clear victory.

 

Same. I thought the Sturm fight was maybe a round or two closer.

 

I never thought the Molina fight was controversial, Oscar fought well that day and definitely deserved it.....
I think he lost to Mosley in the rematch, I watched twice I think, close decision but Mosley won it IMO.....

 

I might watch it one day.

Yeah never realised Mosley 1 was an SD. Surprising that.

 

Had him beating Molina, can't remember my scorecard for that fight.

Quartey I scored in favor of DLH 114-113.

Mosley I I scored for Shane 115-113.

Mosley II I scored for DLH 116-112.

Trinidad I scored for DLH 117-111 or 116-112.

Sturm I scored for Sturm 116-112 or 115-113.

Whitaker I scored for DLH 114-112.

Mayweather I scored for Floyd 115-113

So 5-3, basically. He shouldn't have ever gone up to Middleweight in the first place, and fought Floyd well after his best. The only man to best a prime Oscar in my mind was Mosley.

I don't see how Mosley I or Mayweather were controversial, he clearly lost both fights.

I thought he won against Tito, Mosley II, Quartey and Whittaker but lost to Sturm.

 

1. I know I've always been in the minority on this, but I actually thought Molina won this fight. IMO, he took the middle and later rounds by getting inside of DeLaHoya's punches and scoring to the body, and also scoring with overhand rights from the outside. To be fair, Molina probably should've been penalized for all his rabbit punching.

2. DeLaHoya won fair and square IMO.

3. Close fight, but I've typically scored this either a close win for Quartey or a draw. I don't believe DeLaHoya did enough to actually win this.

4. I think a draw was possible, but Tito didn't do enough to actually win IMO.

5. Close but clear win for Mosley IMO. The only one of these decisions that isn't debatable IMO.

6. Like the Tito fight, a draw may have been possible, but I don't think Mosley did enough to actually win this.

7. DeLaHoya very lucky to win this IMO. A draw may have been possible, but even that would've been sympathetic to DeLaHoya IMO.

8. Possibly close enough to be a draw, but a close win for Mayweather was the most fair result IMO.

So ultimately I have DeLaHoya winning one fair decision, losing two fair decisions, winning two questionable decisions (could've been draws), losing two questionable decisions (could've been draws), and winning one outright "bad" decision (Sturm). So in my view, DeLaHoya's record in these fights could be 3-5, or 1-3-4 (if the "questionable" decisions are considered draws).

 

I don't recall ever seeing the Molina fight. Might have to give it a watch sometime!

 

Lederman had Molina winning, for whatever (little) that might be worth.
