    Oscar wants Cotto
    The "Golden Boy" anticipates that he could close out his great career with a fight against the Puerto Rican champion.

    Oscar De La Hoya plans to retire from boxing in 2008. And he wants to leave in grand style.
    The "Golden Boy" said today that after the bout with Steve Forbes on May 3rd and the rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. on September 20th, he would like to bid farewell to the squared circle with a matchup against the welterweight champ Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto.
    "If I beat Mayweather, who is the best pound for pound in the world, I have to keep fighting the best and it's no secret that Miguel Cotto is one of the best in the world. He has a hard fight with Antonio Margarito and anything can happen, but we all know that Miguel Cotto
    is going to win that fight, said De La Hoya on a conference call as part of his promotion for his bout with Forbes that will be hosted in a soccer stadium in Home Depot Center in Carson, California.
    "I don't have to fight Cotto, but obviously my last fight is not going to be against an easy opponent, it's going to be against one of the best and after Mayweather, right behind him is Cotto", explained De La Hoya, who is training in the barrio gym, Caimito, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico under his trainer, Floyd Mayweather Sr.
    /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

    This is all really strange. If you noticed, in the past 2-3 months the following have all called out Cotto and want to get a fight with him:
    Cintron, Clottey, Margarito, Luis Collazo, Judah, Mosley, and now De La Hoya. I just don't understand it. Floyd has told us that Cotto isn't worth ****. Hell, he's not worth taking a **** on right? Some reason, every welterweight wants to get a shot at him. He's not important, he's worthless, shouldn't have been born, all the stuff Mayweather has said. And what Mayweather says is the truth right? All of these guys for some reason want a shot at Miguel Cotto..........all except YOU.

    When it's all said and done, Oscar De La Hoya will be 39-7.

    yea it kinda makes sense. Dlh is obviously going to fight for big money for his last fight and cotto is the only other big name around dlh's weight besides pbf. So pbf in sept then cotto in late dec. setting up cotto-pbf in 09

    If Oscar loses to Floyd, this fight will not happen.

    If Cotto beat Margarito and De La Hoya, a Mayweather fight would be assured for 2009. Floyd, who will probably be 40-0 at the time, would love the fact that Cotto was involved in a huge money PPV fight, giving him more incentive to make the fight happen.

    yes it will. Cotto not gonna turn down that kind of money. Only way this fight doesnt happen is if Oscar gets a case of bitchassness and not wanna fight after he loses to Floyd

    Imagine the capper it'd be to Oscar's career, to avenge the Floyd loss, then beat Cotto.
