lol, no he wont. Duran fought hagler on the inside, Marvin ****ing Hagler, he was hardly hospitalised and put in a coma. Size is overrated, Pac will beat DLH with speed and stamina. I dont think Hoya hits that much harder than Pac outside his left hook. If he dont beat him, I guarantee it will be a much more competetive fight than people expected at the least and definitely no circus act.

This is a great fight for boxing. Finally, a huge mainstream fight that promises action and drama. No hyping the whole world for 3months and have them pay $50 only to watch 2 men dance around the ring, they will come to see what's been advertised and they will love it.

great fight for boxing? Pac fighting Oscar is taking limelight away from other fighters in his division, who are dying to get their names out there and who have earned their shot. Its not good for boxing

Pac elevates himself as a contender in a division by beating a tune-up and then disregards that completely.

Boxing is bigger than Nate campbell or Juan Diaz's. Those fights would probably sell to 350k hardcore fans. This fight will sell near 2million americans aswell as mainstream coverage. Put aside the money aspect of it but 2million people watching a fight and being happy with it is alot, how many of those will become fans and recommend it to their friends?

Not only that, boxing has always had 1 big guy to keep the spotlight on it. Wether its Tyson, SRL, Ali or Oscar....should Pac beat Oscar with his relentless style, this would almost be like the passing of the torch. Should Pac drop down to LW again to fight the likes of Nate Campbell, those fights will be much bigger and their names more well known.

You are looking at it from a hardcore's fans pov. In the grand scheme of things though, what does Pac really care about getting another belt at LW or beat Nate or Juan Diaz, when he can beat a legend like DLH (who even at this point in his career would still be a bigger challenge due to his size) and gain max exposure whilst he's at it. On the big scale, this fight is good for boxing. Nate-Pac could happen tommorow and most will forget the next day. Pac-DLH would put boxing on the spotlight to people who otherwise wouldnt want to watch boxing for 3 months and gain alot of new fans afterwards too.

When I read the part that Schaefer and Oscar wont budge about the $$$, I am fully confident that by about August 18th, we will be hearing the typical "We are disappointed to announce that Team Pacaquio is being unreasonable" crap. :patsch

I'm looking at it from a long term point of vue. I believe that if boxing wants to establish itself as a major sport, boxers must be rewarded based on merit and not only popularity. In my eyes ODLH has not fought a meaningful fight since his 2nd loss to Mosley, and now he is dragging down Pacquiao with him.

A split decision loss to PBF is not a meaningful fight? If anything Oscar proved just how elite he still is. Mayorga is a B- level fighter, a titlist, Oscar despatched of him in impressive fashion and goes on to get SD loss to p4p champ. He is still good and I think Pac can do it.

Both Pac & DLH are bigger than weight classes. They can jump around as they please. Part of the problem with boxing is too many weight classes, these guys will scrap that for a good competetive entertaining fight that will entertain the world.

Pac has gone through a span of 7 weight divisions this guy has nothing left to prove. He can clean out 135 and further improve his legacy but not much more. Hes moving unto a different level with a DLH fight, he will possibly become the next face of boxing. Certainly would be a great ambassador for the sport.

Yor're right, boxers are rewarded on merit. I think both fighters have earned merit.

this fight will draw a big audience and make more fans than PBF-DLH did. it's not really as bad as we see it. except from size, pac has a lot of advantages over DLH and the 147lbs agreement will furthermore even out the terms.
as for the purse, i think they will agree on a 65-35% sharing. the 8oz glove size is good for pacman. fighting at a bloated weight and a heavy gloves will not do him any good. at least he should retain his hand speed advantage over DLH.

3 losses in his last 6 fights for Oscar

and for Pac, he has merit at 135 but not at 147. And Oscar hasn't fought at 147 in a decade.

They are gonna fight in a division where they are not even close to being the best.

This isnt about divisions. Divisions are merely safety precautions, not levels you gotta climb. Oscar & Pac both atg's can fight whichever division they please.

So? Demolition of titlist and sd loss to p4p #1 proves your elite. Campbell could fight guzman 5 times and loose 5 times out of his last 5 fights, dont mean hes shot.

I didn't say its about divisions, for me its about being the best and fighting the best.

divisions are a big part of that. If Pacquiao is gonna fight in the 147 pound division, then he should fight the best. If he's not gonna fight the best in that division, then he should stick to the lower ones and fight the best there
