I post this every couple of years just for the sake of argument. I like to think I am one of the more neutral posters on this site, so I have no agenda when I say this, it's just something I believe.

Without going into huge detail (but will if needed) I don't think ODLH every beat a top tier fighter. He certainly beat fighters that were considered great at one point of their career like Sweet Pea, and Vargas, Chavez, etc. and he maybe (probably?) deserved the nod against Tito, though at the time he fought these people I don't think he ever beat what we would call an "A" fighter.

His best win is arguably against Ike Quartey in my opinion.

My opinion hardly matters, as DLH was easily the biggest gate earner for any non-heavy ever, and most of the matches he was in were great events and I enjoyed watching his fights.

Whitaker was P4P #1 and the welterweight champ when Oscar beat him. :good

The only A level guys he fought in his prime he got cheated like Mosley and Tito.

IMO he lost to Whitaker. He got knocked down, missed all night, and got outlanded. But, IMO he beat Tito. Tito was obviously a top fighter.

This says DLH was 1 and Sweet Pea was 4, not that that's a bad thing. I do think this is his closest to a big time win, though it hurts that Pea didn't fight much after this. I'll have to think about it more.

So it was Oscar's glove making a "whoosh" noise in the air that closed Whitaker's eye?

I agree with this as well. I guess I'm just going by wins on "paper" though at the end of the day he made more of the paper that matters, maybe the second most in boxing history?

I mentioned this in my original post. He beat a lot of greats, but never in their prime (imo, which is being changed by the post, lol)

Take a look at the punch stats. Not to mention, neither guy looked good when they had that sit down with Lampley a week later. All Oscar did is give the air a beating. ****, Rivera did better against Whitaker than Oscar did. Let that had been reversed and all the Oscarsexuals and females would have been crying foul.

I really don't need punch stats telling me what was landed and what wasn't. Thats what has ruined the amateur system.

Vargas wasn't a great fighter, but I consider that as Oscar's greatest win. Had Oscar not ran against Tito, he would have had his true moment.

Quartey, Tito, Vargas and Mosley were all TOP fighters, don't know what DLH fights have you watch.
