i know the examiner is full of ****, but still an entertaining read to me.

As promoter of both Victor Ortiz and Floyd Mayweather, you would be forgiven for thinking that Golden Boy owner Oscar De La Hoya might tend to stay neutral when it comes to his thoughts on how the September 17th fight might go.
Not so in this case however, with Oscar firmly backing recently crowned WBC welterweight champion ‘Vicious’ Victor Ortiz to stop his own former opponent Floyd Mayweather.
All week in fact De La Hoya has been talking up Ortiz’s chances, and even claims that he will help him train and give him pointers on how to beat Mayweather:
“Victor Ortiz is strong he’s quick and full of energy and I’ll be right there I’n his ear giving him pointers I’n camp.”

    Dela Hoya backs Ortiz

“Mayweather has been inactive for over a year now and he’s fighting a young strong fast lion I’n victor. It’s not going to be victors strength or power it’s going to be his head and will that will beat mayweather”
De La Hoya and Mayweather fought in 2007, with Floyd winning a razor thin split decision. The bout also set a pay per view record that stands to this day of 2.4 million.
De La Hoya even went so far as to call into question Mayweather’s recent opponents, both of whom at the time were Golden Boy fighters, and claimed:
“You see mayweather had an easy time with Marquez and Mosley.one because of age and the other is a lightweight.”
He ended his series of comments on the fight by predicting an Ortiz victory followed by a fight with Manny Pacquiao for his protege, glossing over the fact that he would have to beat Floyd twice before thinking of taking on anyone else due to the rematch clause in the event of an Ortiz victory.
“You watch.paquiao is going to beat Marquez easy and victor Ortiz is going to beat mayweather and then we will want Ortiz vs manny”
    “For the first time"

If ortiz beats Floyd one of 2 things will happen: 1. rematch with floyd, 2. fight with khan.
Arum will match manny up with bradley, I think ortiz/floyd should be next.
Imagine if ortiz somehow beats mayweather and pac, that would be really sick.

Isn't Oscar a little like Teddy Atlas. His predictions are sometimes way off, which is surprising from a guy who knows boxing at the high level.

He knows that Ortiz doesn't stand a chance against Floyd. He knows this but he's a promoter now. He will say deceitful things to sell this fight.

He also picked Hatton, Marquez, and Mosley.

Ortiz will lose because he's too flat footed.

he wont win one round against Floyd unless Floyd takes a round off or is too inactive in the ring.

Baldomir was also a much better fighter when he fought Floyd than Ortiz is now.

I know. That is one thing I wish he would be is honest with the fans. He is such a great fighter. Being honest will not hurt the gate for the fight. He can still say Ortiz is going to be a great challenge, without saying he will beat him.
