I believe that if he boxed at 154 he could pick up another strap. He was severley weight drained in the Pac fight.

Just a little bit, yeah

I really like De La Hoya and I always have done, so I do think it's a shame if he goes ahead with this, if he doesn't truly think he can win. Not only is he hurting his own pride but the fans deserve better, honestly.

The positive spin I'd put on it though, is that it will help boxing. Sure, it helps De La Hoya and his own company GBP, but it also helps boxing as a whole too. Anything which can ensure that millions more fans watch boxing is a good thing to me.

...though it's frustrating as a De La Hoya fan! But I'll turn a blind eye to it, I suppose.

    Kay :thumbsup

A question though, do you think it will jeopardize his integrity in the fight? cause I cant help but think whether he's going to want to lay it on Alvarez if he's able to.

I'd be very surprised if this happens.

His defeat against Pacquiao was so humiliating and he looked like such a shell of himself, that I can't imagine he'd want to risk being embarrassed like that again.

Maybe he could make Alvarez a big star by losing to him but, whatever you think of Oscar, he's a proud guy and I can't see him voluntarily tarnishing his legacy for a few extra $'s.

I'm sure he goes into the gym just to stay in shape.

only logical reason for oscar to fight alveraz is bc his company needs money. all gbp's fighters are leaving and top rank has been making the good fights.

It would make Canelo a superstar

It would be kind of a bitter sweet revenge to watching Chavez get beat by alot of the Mexican fans.

The fight is fixed before it's even signed.Oscar wants to give Canelo some credibility and hack in some cash from casual boxing fans in the process.Sounds like he's passing the torch because he's been training since Christmas. The truth however is that Oscar cant pull the trigger ever since Floyd Mayweather beat him.By the time he faced Pacquiao he was already 6 feet under

He was probably drained at 147 but he may just have been shot. Either way he could make 1.5m PPVs against: Mayweather or Pacquaio. Both Pacquaio and Mayweather rematches are somewhat intriguing at 154. And make a big star and or last good win against Canelo. Oscar maybe old but Canelo is green and maybe chinny

No he clearly said he would never fight again. He would get slaughtered and wouldn't prove anything.

Oscar always denies these bull**** rumors and there's no indication he's contemplating anything.

Oscar was in decline long before getting destroyed by Manny. He's been semi-retired for the best part of the last decade.

I'm not against him coming back, but I'd hate to see a lot of unrealistic expectations floating around about his current capabilities as a fighter.

As long as he doesn't get in the way of relevant fights he could comeback and make a lot of money against Chavez Jr and Alvarez while still be being competitive. It could be good for the sport.

Oscar should fight Chavez Jr, should he win then its time for Canelo. He'd make a mint off of the JCC Jr fight and if he won then the interest in a match between him and Alvarez would actually heighten. Does Chavez have a strap at 154?

PS if Magic Matty Hatton pulls off the win against Canelo do you think Oscar would be bold enough to stage a unique Golden Boy vs The Hattons 2 on 1 at Wembley? With the situation at GBP I wouldnt put anything past Oscar haha
