i actually like miguel better, but you gotta give credit to the golden boy. both were lefties that fought orthodox so both had excellent jabs. miguel was alittle more consistent and a slow starter, where oscar had more one punch power and fought in spurts. it would be a close fight with miguel getting the better exchanges on the inside and even win sometimes on the outside, but oscar had a better chin and alittle more pop. right now i have this something somewhat of a draw, but would edge towards dlh. it'd probably resemble the quartey fight where quartey was a strong welter while cotto is a strong junior welter

We know Oscar's not going to attack Cotto like Margarito did and throw 100 punches per round. The main thing that concerns me is that Cotto is very vunerable to power shots. And Oscar had some pretty good power at Welterweight back in the day. Oscar's speed was up there as well. I'd say 1 thing Cotto has over Oscar is body punching and Cotto would land some pretty good shots of his own. The question is would they be enough though? I love Cotto, but I'm gonna have to go with Oscar in this one.

Oscar by EARLY stoppage. Cotto is vulnerable early, speedy and/or powerful fighters gave him trouble both at LWW and WW, like Torres and Judah.

DLH is the perfect combination of speed, power and very good finishing combinations. IF Cotto survives the early rounds, it could go to the cards or Oscar slowing putting a Vargas on Miguel, but as I've said, best chance IMO is that DLH hurts Miguel early and finished the job. (No, Margarito didn't hurt Cotto early, he's a slow starter. DLH is a fast starter).

DLH doesn't lose his biggest fights. Close, but he won vs. Whitaker, Quartey, Tito and Mosley (2nd fight) on my cards, had a close loss vs. Mosley, Mayweather and lost pretty wide vs. Sturm at MW(!), KO to Hopkins and TKO vs. Pac being completely shot, weight drained, and with a bad left shoulder (from the Mayorga fight). Cotto is absolutely not in his league based on speed, precision, power and even conditioning. Cotto is excellent, but had a draw-like fight vs. a very different, not shot, but no-footwork, less-speed, less-fluid-combinations, significantly less energetic Mosley. Who is 1-1 vs. Oscar in their prime.

cotto is a thinking fighter now after he suffered his first lost. he is now looking for the perfect timing and his activity allows him to pile up points.

but i feel oscar would win on ring generalship and that would be the difference in the fight

hmmmmmm....tough matchup but i think DLH wins it (unless he does what he did against Tito and starts running away) unless Cotto can pull a Hopkins on him  BOOOOOM body shot of doom!

Tough fight. I would go with Oscar on points as the most likely outcome. Or he stops Cotto. Cotto might get a close and controversial SD, but wouldn't stop Oscar - who has an excellent chin.

I think De La Hoya would put on the same running shoes he had against Trinidad

Oscar De La Hoya in his prime dominated smaller men, The Golden Boy would have stopped Cotto in 9, to fast, to much Boxing skills, the jab would be a big factor.
