If I recall (and I speak under correction) the 'chicken' tag was because of the Trinidad fight where Oscar, thinking he had it in the bag, decided to play it safe for the last four rounds.

Thanks ! I couldn`t remember if it was because they were dogging him about fighting certain opponents...

I think the real problem with the Quartey fight is not that the judging might have been suspect....it's more that Oscar was neck and neck with a fighter that at that stage was basically a slightly improved Frank Bruno.

quartey was always basic, but he was also slow and sluggish after the long layoff, offering little more than a decent high guard and a good power jab in that fight.

i think it showed Oscar's limitations to an extent. The real elite of the Welter's would have waxed that version of Ike, who looked noticeably declined image of the fighter that took on espana, Carr and Phillips.

If Oscar had been up against that earlier far more active, quicker and sharper Quartey then he would need to fight with a lot more invention than the flat footed "you punch then i punch" routine we got against the rusty Ike.Shitty overrated fight apart from a couple of good rounds.
