Anyone else see the Ringside episode last night about DLH? It was actually a very good watch. Gets fairly personal, and a very good insight. Also, he talks a little about the Pacquiao bout. I seen a thread were the threadstarter states that he doesn't believe De La Hoya was drained. I thought he was clearly drained, anyway...DLH makes a statement on this episode about him being 141lbs just weeks before the Pacquiao bout huhatsch). If that's true, it's crazy on his and his dietitians part. Kind of adds to the already visual evidence if it's true (I've never heard DLH talk about his weight during the Pacquiao bout/camp before...kind of surprised me). Anyway...here it is, it's a good watch. Also, you see a snippet of the build up of Hatton-Mayweather...reminded me of why it was, on a whole, one of my favourite bouts.
being at 141 weeks before the fight means hes not weight drained for the fight. whats to drain at 141 if the fight would be at 147. their plan was to get used to the weight to at least make up for Pacs speed but it failed.
Yep. So many supposed boxing 'fans' on this site talk about being drained and have no ****ing clue as to what they're talking about. If DLH was drained coming into the fight, he would've put on a ton of hydration weight post weigh-in. The fact of the matter is, when the fight was signed, DLH was already saying that he was right around 151 pounds. DLH wasn't drained. Weak at the weight maybe, but not drained.
It does mean he was drained. How hard do you think it was for a 160ib man to maintain 141 for weeks before a weigh in
by your logic, if i go decide to go on diet and wanted to maintain a certain weight, id be walking around "weight drained" then on a daily basis.
Just watched it all. The guy was a special fighter indeed. Its good to know he is happy though, as he certainly deserves to be.
Of course it means he was drained. He hadn't been at 147lbs in close to 10 years. He states it was wrong of him and his new nutritionist who was feeding him. Their plan may have been to get used to the weight to make up for Pac's speed...but that does not mean he was not drained. If you claim he wasn't drained after seeing him at the weigh in...you're lying.
Bull****, I know what it is like to make weight, and to drain to make weight...those 'supposed boxing fan' statements only work 99% of the time, this is not one of them. If you're drained, you don't automatically hydrate, it's actually dangerous to add weight so quickly if your body is starved at that point. Any De La Hoya statement before the bout means **** all. He would not allow his opponent to gain a mental advantage by stating he was struggling with weight, etc. Same goes for any boxer, which is why almost every boxer always has a perfect training camp, until after the bout...that's when the excuses, etc come out.
