    Yanks

What the feck is the fuss with this guy? I mean he seems to be widely regarded as some sort of great, yet he loses to all the best

Lucky as feck against Sturm as well

He's a better promoter than boxer. He even cost Hatton the fight against Mayweather, with his **** tactics...the ****

    Wise up

    Ah, Prescott...an enlightened poster

So far we have come up with no reasons not to take De La Hoya off the all-time great list, and add him to the 'just better than journeyman' list

Yet yanks continue to lap up his latest money spinning bonanza

i agree he had a great left hook and a nice jab a puncher with a stalker style to him.

but come on man his best win is what fernando vargas?
pernell should of got the decision.
ike quartey should/could of got the decision ike landed more jab and i think the fight was won on a knockdown of quartey.
    chavez was way past it.
stupidly gave the fight to the trinidad
    sturm did win.

i have no problem but he seems to politic his way to title shots and fights by saying that he would beat him then go into his shell and we wont see him for a while and then he will go after someone else. like telling bernard hopkins that he couldnt make 160 pounds:lol

he only tries to not lose the rounds and then if somoemntries to out work him he will turn into the puncher...and somtimes this doesnt work.

actually can you thin kof any fight where he was the under dog?

To the not so average fight fan - Oscar is the biggest name in the sport. Then when it comes to the women - they have a things for him. He's only considered to be as good/great as he is - because of the amount of asses he puts in seats and the PPV Numbers his fights put up.

Not to mention that even though he has a couple of loses - the level of his competition has been very high. And when the level of competition isn't that high - he puts on a pretty good performance - that usually ends with a KO. For the not so average fight fan - this is the type of excitment they are looking for.

Now that Mayweather has secured himself in his place - I think the De la Hoya money train is on it's way down. One or two more fights before people start to really lose interest in him. And he's going to lose one of his last two fights.

Pull out his fight record and read the names of the people he beat and then say he lost to the best. He might be loosing now but he dominated the nineties with an undefeated record, almost everyone being the biggest names of the era For those who say JCC was way past his prime. He was 33, the same age Oscar was when he fought Floyd, and with one loss to his record out of a hundred. He was as dangerous to Oscar as Oscar was to Floyd. Floyd fought tentatively for a reason.
