We have mayweather and paquiao who compete in their ppv sales, but if one of these 2 lose is over. Mayweather claims to be the king when it comes to ppv but the true king is he guy who made them what they are today. De la hoya truly was the ppv king..even after so many loses he still brought it record breaking numbers against none ppv contenders..After the trinidad fight he practically lost most of his championship fights. mosley 1,2 hopkings n mayweather till finally the pac man..but yet he sold close if not over 1 mil in ppv numbers..name any other fighter that would lose or have lost that many times and still sell that many numbers.. #de la Best
By drawing in an irrational casual fanbase, Oscar Dela Hoya also contributed to the deterioration of the sport.
So you made a BS thread and acted like you were giving props to De La Hoya but your real intentions were to make a point against Mayweather? You are the true definition of a TROLL Also "#de la best"...gtfoh homo. atsch
Not many to be honest. And this was before 24/7 which adds significant interest in a fight. Tyson was a once in a lifetime type of fighter/personality. Before him was Ali, before him was Dempsey.
I think the TS is a real *** but TBH Oscar was a crossover figure that changed the game. Without him there would be no PBF or Pac. That being said both PBF and Pac have eclipsed Oscar not only at the Box-office but also in ATG rankings.
How terrible it would be if there were no cherry-picking, well-managed PPV popstar cowards with rabid nationalists for fans... Thanks, Oscar! I dislike Oscar as one of the most corrupt promoters and worst matchmakers in history, but don't blame him for Pacmania.
