It would be nice to see Oscar try n' arrange this and win it before he leaves, but I'm not very optimistic. I think DLH has lost the fire.
Oscar is too complete for Cotto. I saw and realized something Saturday night. And that is even though Shane holds two victories over Oscar, Oscar is the much harder boxer/fighter to beat then Shane Mosley is. Shane is actually very simple to figure out, IF you have the skills to beat him you can. He doesn't have great defense, doesn't put together combinations anymore and his stamina isn't that much better then Oscars. He did it against Cotto as well as Mayorga, he takes off the middle rounds....or SOME of the middle rounds in order to conserve for the finish. Look how easily Oscar made Mayorga look like an amateur. Shane against Mayorga? I thought they both looked awful in there. Delahoya has a better jab then Cotto, Shane doesn't. Delahoya has a much better left hook then Shane. Delahoya puts together MUCH better combos then Shane. Delahoya has better defense then Shane. Delahoya hits harder then Shane does. The chins are equal I'd say and Cotto didn't come close to hurting Shane. I think Delahoya takes this fight via UD or late round stoppage.
:good I can't believe people actually believe Oscar can win this after what we saw in the Forbes' fight. And now Oscar will fight Pacquiao. Cmon. Oscar is a legend and I like him very much, but to say he can beat Cotto (and by KO!!!) is not realistic. Don't base your answer on how Oscar LOOKED some years ago.
De La Hoya is still an excellent boxer with a good hard punch. De La Hoya is also extremely durable. I would clearly favor him over Miguel Cotto. Much as people are all over Cotto's nuts these days the guy has NEVER beat a prime grade A talent. De La Hoya has plenty more left than Shane Mosley (though he's not in his actual prime) - I've been saying it for some time now. Cotto's defense, ring intelligence, and stamina would fail him badly in this fight. There's a good chance De La Hoya would stop him, and no chance Oscar would allow Cotto to continiously lung in and throw his hooks to the body without constantly countersmashing Cotto with his '45' to the head.
