His rep has plummeted since Bud took him apart. Before that fight I'm certain many would have picked Spence over Oscar
DLH is a legit ATG whereas Spence is a borderline HOF(as it stands now). Before the Bud fight I would have given Spence a decent chance vs DLH but not anymore. It would have been competitive at best but DLH takes this no doubt.
I'm not even sure it would be competitive. He doesn't have the speed of Mosley, the power of Tito or Quartey, the elusiveness of Whitaker. Guys that gave De La Hoya problems usually were exceptional in some way and I just don't see that in Spence. He was always just good in a lot of areas but never really exceptional in any one area of his game or stood out as a talent. His best hope I guess is not to get too beat up in the first half and try break Oscar down and take over in the 2nd half of the fight. But that was the hope vs Crawford and we all saw how that went. Oscar's speed, size and power I suspect would be too much and he'd never survive to make it to the late rounds. I think Quartey and Tito too beat him and likely stop him. In fact Tito would probably stop him pretty early. Mosley would be too fast, back him up and break him down. Whitaker would toy with him. Spence just was never on this level, he was closer to someone like Oba Carr than De La Hoya or any of the best 147lbers during that era.
Oscar beats him clearly or even stops his butt. Tito, Shane, Ike, Viper, Prime Manny, Floyd, Cotto...hell, even Oba Carr would all likely beat ESjr at 147
That old fishnet wearing, Coke snorting weirdo was legit in his prime, I think people forget just how good he was because of the current state of him but he wouldn't have battered the snot out of Spence Jr. Wouldn't have been competitive in my mind.
You are simply an idiot. I was in the business of boxing before you and will be in it long after you have gone. You don’t know anything about the sweet science.
