Oscar De La Hoya vs Fernando Vargas HQ

I always loved that fight - i havent watched mroe than once since and loved the highlights.


My first thought about it as Vargas was too stubborn for his own good - but thats kinda the story of his career

 

One of the best fights since 2000.

 

Nice vid. That was one great fight.

 

I had it 6-4 DLH. Vargas was winning round 10 but got clocked with that beauty of a left. Could have been 5-5 on 2 of the judges cards had Vargas avoided that blow.

Great fight. Probably Oscar's best win.

 

This fight is a good example of what a horrible trainer Floyd Sr is. Why was Oscar using a shoulder roll against vargas? Terrible ****. Oscar should have dominated this dude way worse, but since Floyd Sr tried to turn him into Floyd Mayweather he ended up taking a lot of punishment.

 

Yes, had Oscar have been fighting like he did when he was with Alcazar, he wouldn't have been getting hit nearly as much

 

I remember Floyd Sr. making a damn wookie sound for his corner advice

 

One of Oscar's defining wins for sure... Even with a 'roided-out El Ferroz...

Love this fight.

It was the last great fight between 2 elite fighters at the time who actually hated the other with a passion. What makes it even better is that it was competetive.

:nono Vargas at that point was not elite. He was a shot fighter. ODLH waited to fight Vargas till Trinidad trashed him.
