Oscar De La Hoya by demolition.

Too big, too fast, hits too hard for JMM.

you have to remember, as great as Marquez is, he's been buzzed and knocked down by B-class fighters at 135, and went life and death with the like of Katsidis and Juan Diaz. imagine what the 135-pound Oscar would have done to those guys?
Oscar eventually settled down physically at 154. At lightweight, he was freaking huge plus blindingly fast superbly talented KO power Oscar by a mile!

Oscar at 135 had too much pop, very fast and strong too.

What Marquez would bring to the table is immense experience.

I'm tempted to say Oscar will just sweep the floor with him, however, Marquez has never been stopped, this would probably go the way of a clear points win ala De La Hoya-Gonzales but with 3 knockdowns along the way.

Oscar was too big as suggested. JMM's only chance might be that Dela Hoya's durability was'nt as strong at that weight due to him boiling down. Dela Hoya coming foward stalking him and stuffing that good jab in Marquez's face to set up his offense before getting his punches off?

This would look similar to gatti vs. oscar only at the lighter weight. Marquez would hold on for longer but late stoppage IMO.

Marquez isn't sharp or quick enough to hold him off at 135, Oscar was beastly. But he would be competitive as long as it lasted. Psychologically I can see a young DLH holding back from time to time to avoid the counters he'd be open to.

Marquez has little answers for the left whether getting dropped over and over by Pacquaio straight lefts, him eating jabs from Mayweather all night, him getting dropped by left hooks by c class fighters. He simply wouldn't be able to deal with Oscars size range, blinding speed, and crushing power in his left hand.....Oscar by demolition

SN:Manny could have finished Marquez if he had just abandoned the jab altegether, and feint into to distance and pop shot with the straight lefts like he did oscar til it wore JMM down, JMM ducks into left lead every time, but Manny reverted back to the jab jab straight bail out.

    Interesting match up.

Oscar at 135 was a beast. He never really a great fighter at that weight but he had everything, speed, combination, power (which is almost enough to beat Marquez) and his left hook was his KO punch.
Either Oscar by wide decision or an early TKO win.

Oscar kills him. Oscar did great against guys with a short reach due to his use of the jab and quick hands. he used distance well. Marquez also is not the most defensive fighter and would get taken apart quicker than JCC.

Big exaggeration IMO. After getting dropped by Katsidis, the left hardly landed. He's avoided Manny's left consistently better than anyone else and has always been an expert against southpaws (Jaca, Jaendang, Casamayor, and about 6 others). A jab from a taller, longer fighter is always going to be an obstacle, and it lands flush, not on the left side of the face. If he were especially vulnerable to every left-hand punch (which is a majority of punches) he'd have been stopped or beaten decisively by the best names on his resume.

Marquez lowers his head so Manny falls in on him, but Manny adjusted by hanging back and firing from there in the 4th. Marquez adjusted by using another trick he uses, tilting his head and body leftwards. It's how he set up the KO as well.

(This all being unrelated to the thread with my pick being Oscar.)

Oscar should win but damn will it be a scrap, I wouldnt automatically say Oscar wins though, this was back when he was with Alcazar and Oscar wasnt as fluid as he became with Mayweather Sr.

if John John Molina can get in some solid work against DLH at that weight, Jaun Manuel Marquez likely will out do Molina, honestly I have to say Oscar based on size but in reality I just do not have a solid winner here... Great fight though
