The non-prime match-up. The DLH that blew away Ruelas vs. the Marquez that stopped Diaz. Who gets it?
This fight would deliver in terms of action. Oscar has the strength advantage no doubt. Marquez i would say is the better combination puncher. Oscar has better footwork by a long way, but is far from what we'd describe as a wizard. He clearly has a better jab, his jab is genuine great. It goes without saying that a great boxer utilising great footwork has an advantage over Marquez imo, i say it all the time. But it must be said also that a mere good set of feet don't do the trick, because he has heart and keeps throwing his combos whenever his man is in range. You need to really have quality feet to offset him. So i reckon this would have exciting moments. I defo lean towards Oscar though, Marquez was far fresher at 126 and even 130, Oscar had a size advantage at 135 but the weight draining didn't affect his own effectiveness as a fighter much. Oscar to get clocked with combos that are better than his own, but take a decision on points through his good jab and very fast punches in bunches.
I'm surprise you think this fight goes to a decision, I see an mid round stoppage personally for Oscar.
I was thinking so as well, think i just got a bit carried away with stating Marquez has heart. I've been knocking Marquez quite a bit lately (nothing i don't see fit though) and thought i'd give him a break, haha. He is a warrior, but yeah Oscar would have too much firepower in all likelihood.
It's crazy how underrated he has become since losing to Floyd, it seems like people forget that he fought two weight classes where he doesn't belong against an ATG.
Yeah it's **** when people rate fighters predominantly at weights they were not at their best at. You'd think Roberto Duran never fought below 154 with the amount of hypothetical match-ups you see of him on here.
Oscar has every advantage here except for experience. I think Marquez is crafty enough to survive a big scare early. He fights his way back into it and by the 5th round is comfortable and fighting ODLH on even terms even winning some rounds, Oscar steps it up though and shows his Physical Superiorty and stops Marquez in 9 rounds.
Marquez has probably better overall skills, but DLH speed and power is the bigger factor. DLH by decision.
Oscar by decision, he has massive size advantages. His heght/reach/jab combination would be hard for Marquez, I think at times Marquez would hit Oscar very clean counters and leads much like Quartey did. Oscar may well look clueness at times like he did in that fight, but Marquez doesnt have quite the same defense so he'll get hit more
Because he beat the stuffing out of Pacquaio twice who beat the stuffing out of your boy Oscar, and dominated at featherweight for years
I genuinely cannot work out why you always say that - it can only be because either: (a) you are an immature, biased, petty fanboy ****** who is stuck on playground mode with the "I love Floyd so I hate Pac" mentality or (b) you do not understand boxing at all and thus have no concept or clue of how to score a boxing match correctly There can be no other explanation, because even Dinamita's own mother knew those fights were close as hell - both of them. It simply is not a legitimate possibilty that any sane boxing fan could seriously believe either fight was a schooling.
