I think that his best performance was against Miguel Angel Gonzalez. He was loose, ultra sharp, and his jab was incredible. When Emmanuel took over the objective was, as I recall, to get him ''back" to being a big puncher. That was never what Oscar was about; he was a good puncher, but his strength was speed and putting his hands together. All of a sudden he was marching forward looking for big punches. I have always thought that, had Rivero been kept on, Oscar would have stopped Trinidad. Incidentally, when he fought Charpentier, I was in El Paso. There were supposed to be open workouts at the stadium but it rained very hard that day so they relocated to a local gym and it became press only. My friend was able to get us in for Oscar's workout but Charpentier, who showed up with Winky Wright, closed the gym. Everybody had to go drink beer at the nearby VFW bar.
DLH was just a better fighter than Tszyu. And I'm the biggest Oscar hater on Earth. DLH late stoppage or UD.
would have been one hell of a fight though! both fighters have their strenghts and weaknesses. while i really liked kostya, i feel the edge would go to oscar.
Definitely one of the ''what-might-have-been" fights of the '90s. Still gutted this didn't happen. I lean towards Oscar and I think he could have finished the job too. Tszyu would have his moments though so it depends how aggressive Oscar was willing to be as to how the fight went. I wish DLH had stayed longer at 140, it might have been his best weight.
