Cotto by UD. I'll be disappointed if Cotto takes this fight instead of trying to unify. Except for financial reasons, there is no other incentive for Cotto to take this fight.

DLH might KO Cotto in the early rounds. Torres had Cotto hurt twice and DLH has much more power than Torres.
If it goes to the distance, I'll take Cotto by UD.

Cotto would stop ODH. ODH has too many spells of inactivity. If it goes to the later rounds Cotto would get to that rib cage where ODH cannot take a shot and will get pummeled. He only has a chance at an early KO or stoppage on a hurt Cotto.

That was Cotto at 140, not 147. Much more weight drained and weaker than at 147. Also, this is by no means the same Cotto as in the Torres fight or DLH of old we're talking in this matchup.

This is a very interesting (and likely lucrative) fight. Oscar would need to put Cotto away in the first 7 or 8 rounds -- something I think he can muster. Otherwise he gets outworked and tires as round 12 comes to a close. The easy pick is a somewhat close Cotto decision similar to what we saw in the Mosely fight.

Oscar would have trouble making 147, and if he did, he would have trouble with Cotto.

At 154, it's an easy night for Oscar. He can choose KO or UD.

There are some crackheads in this thread

De La Hoya NEVER wins big fights. I know yank boxing fans are dumb for the most part, but I thought even you guys would have worked this out by now. How many times does he have to lose, before you realise he's not all that good, and is better at promoting than boxing

    Wins:

    Paez
    Hernandez
    Leija
    Chavez (twice)
    Gonzalez
    Whittaker
    Comacho
    Rivera
    Quartey
    Carr
    Vargas
    Mayorga

    His losses:

    Trinidad (Most think he win)
Mosley ( Very even series, he probably should have got the split)
Hopkins (Shouldn't have been fighting the guy)
Mayweather (Past prime. yet only boxer to ever get a SD with one of the best p4ps ever)

He's won a lot more big ones than he's lost.

You have a very loose idea of what a 'big' fight is. To me it's two very good boxers, fighting each other. Some of them were only big in hype and financial terms, and that's only because De La Hoya is pretty, promotes a fight well, and has loads of fanboys in America

The best fighters he fought in that list he lost to, end of story

Cotto would be another to add to his collection

    Retire him for ****s sake

All of the fights mentioned were big fights, all against good opponents, and all resulted in either the capture or the defence of a title. in fact 28 of his last 29 fights have been title fights, and for most boxers, a fight with a championship at stake is a big fight.

    Paez (53-6-4) captured lightwt title

Hernandez (32-0-1) Light wt title defence

Leija (30-1-2) Light wt title defence

Chavez (twice) (96-1-1) won jnr welter title; and (100-2-2) defended welter title

    Gonzalez (41-0-0) Jnr welter defence

    Whittaker (40-1-1) won welterwt title

    Comacho (63-3-1) Welterwt title defence

    Rivera (27-2-1) Welterwt title defence

    Quartey (34-0-1) Welterwt title defence

    Carr (48-2-1) Welterwt title defence

    Vargas (22-1-0) 154 lb unification

Mayorga (28-5-1) won 154 lb title

The beat opponents on the list were

    Mayweather
    Whittaker
    Chavez
    Trinidad
    Mosley

To say that he NEVER won the big ones is just nonesense.
