The size disparity at welter combined with Oscar's great handspeed would make it a even fight and i am huge fan of Duran by the way.
1. Ask yourself: How would Oscar have fared against Hagler? (at 160) 2. (a) Watch the Duran-SRL (1) fight. (at 147) 2. (b) Watch the Duran-Hagler fight. (at 160) 3. Revisit and review your assertion of Oscar's 'size' advantage.
None of them. Do you have a point here? The guy I was responding to (DavidB) originally stated that he felt Oscar wouldn't have a chance at 135, but that size might favour him at 147. So, your point?
:think I dont recall you quoting anyone and your post seemed erratic. Damn, just saw it. Should have looked back further. All apologies.
:good No problem, man. I have ****ed up before, many times. Sometimes, if I'm lucky, I notice it before someone else does . Keep on postin' ! :good
Leonard fought a stupid fight and still lost a narrow decision.Had he boxed more instead of fighting Roberto's fight he probably would have won a decision like in the rematch. Hagler clearly won the fight and the scorecards were to close.
That he fought a stupid fight is easy to say post-facto. At the time, Duran took him out of his gameplan. In the second fight, Duran was on laxatives, had gut cramps and literally shitting himself when he called "no mas". And he STILL won two or three round against a guy who was naturally bigger and slicker than Oscar. The Hagler fight was a clear but NARROW victory for Hagler. But one of Duran's greatest performances. The guy was three years older than Marvin and had moved up 30 lbs from his rookie days to face one of the best middlewts (maybe THE best) ever, and he made it a very close affair.
I think Oscar's speed frustrates Duran at both weight classes and makes it an interesting fight but Duran still wins by decision.
Have you been hit by Leonard and Oscar to make that comparison about the left hand? There is no logic in that. Don't say something you can't back up.atsch
