De La Hoya was a far better defensive fighter, I feel it would be like Norris v Brown 2, Brown couldn`t deal with quick movement whether it was at 154 or 147, McGirt exposed him. De La Hoya did far better v Floyd than Brown would of.
Disagree with your assessments. When Brown was on his run he wins going away. I think Maurice Blocker beats Oscar at that weight.
Oscar wins a solid decision,...but people moan that it was a robbery or gift just as they do in many of his other fights.
This post tells me you know nothing about Brown. He was already on the downside when he fought McGirt.
Interesting contrast of posts here lol. I don’t really think brown was post prime, but I do think he had outgrown the WW division and the McGirt fight revealed that. I also don’t think Brown was quite as good at 154, but still quality.
I Have Oscar winning on points in a close fight ,where Brown looks the more dangerous but Oscar the faster of hands .
I see it the same way. Man I loved watching Brown in his prime. I feel like he is a little underrated.
The first fight I saw with Brown was when I was around 12 years old when he knocked out the limited Trice and the next fight I saw him in was in `91 when he beat Blocker, during that fight he was being outboxed until his power saved him, he was limited fighter compared to smarter fighters like McGirt and Norris, despite Norris outclasing him at 154, it wasn`t his size he just had too much speed and savvy for Brown.
He didn`t know how to cut the ring off on McGirt or Norris, he just followed them around the ring, that had nothing to do with his weight problems or him being slower, look how GGG cut the ring off Jacobs by shuffling to the side as Jacobs looked for an escape route each time, that`s pressure, but Brown just walked forwards like Williams v Ali, like he was a robot in a trance.
