It was a tongue in cheek comment. But seriously, no man that has ever walked this earth, beats Ray Robinson 147lbs and down.
Depends on which Oscar Shows. The stiff, robotic oscar of the quartey fight and mosley fights would of been easy pickings for ray. But the mobile, defensive oscar of the tito fight and 96/97 (when he was trying to be like willie pep) would of give Ray plenty to think of When did sugar ray meet anyone with that combination of speed, boxing ability and power of de la hoya on his best nights But i do agree that robinson would eventually be too much for the very best oscar
Oscar would make it competitive, but I think he would lose convincingly. I'd want to see Oscar VS Leonard and Hearns. His style would make things interesting, and perhaps complicated, for them.
All hail the mighty Robinson... Right? People suggesting that DLH gets stopped in a few rounds, or even in six are wrong and looking through Rose tinted glasses. Oscar when bouncing on his toes would give Ray problems, not enough problems to win, but enough to be in the fight. IMO he could jab with Robinson, Oscar's jab was fantastic.
That's beyond him, I'd probably get 'Sugar Ray is the GOAT, so he'd beat anybody of the last 30 years in 6 rounds.' :nut
Oscar was very competitive against excellent defensive masters Pernell Whitaker and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. I would give him good chances against Ray Robinson.
i think sometimes people forget that oscar could fight. this wouldn't be an easy night for ray. i'll take ray by way of tough but clear decision.
